Had the president implemented a truly progressive agenda rather than too often ratifying junior's
wholly-flawed, wrong-headed, and sometimes illegal, agenda, including pre-emptive wars; sought prosecution of known/suspected war criminals; and appointed only progressives to all key posts while ridding government of embedded RW ideologues, Democrats would have likely swept the fall elections in historic numbers; he would have gone a long way in repairing much of the damage wrought upon this Republic since the days of the gipper; and he would must likely have been re-elected in 2012 in historic fashion. Now, it will be wait and see with crossed fingers.

10. I have to disagree with your characterization..
The delivery is very traditional albeit the delivery system is somewhat more modern and efficacious than hitherto.

16. Wow! Didn't realize my reading of the tea leaves and the handwriting on the wall could be this
wholly fouled up: I must even be f*cked up in the reading of the tea leaves that the Deficit Commission's sole mission is to gut social security. Guess yours truly should learn keep his damned mouth shut, accept the destructive RW agenda junior had set in motion, and be prepared for a lousy economy, vast unemployment, and to take a sizable hit on social security. :headbang:

18. There's a whole lot of things you don't realize.
But yeah, your "reading" is pretty fucked up.

"I must even be f*cked up in the reading of the tea leaves that the Deficit Commission's sole mission is to gut social security. "

Yup, you fucked up on that too.

"Guess yours truly should learn keep his damned mouth shut"

That would make everybody's lives better.

"be prepared for a lousy economy, vast unemployment, and to take a sizable hit on social security. "

If you were smarter, you'd realize that the economy is improving, unemployment is going down, and nothing's going to happen to SS.

25. Comforting to know the OP is not universally viewed as heresy, stupidity, ignorance,
and diatribe, else the only conclusion the writer could draw is one of being demonstrably deluded if not insane. Sadly the writer stands by the conclusions set forth in the OP, fervently hoping history will prove his mid-reading of the writing on the wall and the tea leaves. ;)

27. Of course you're right. Realists/progressives have always been right. You were just unlucky with
this post. Another day, worded just a little differently and you'd be on the greatest page.

Hell, I wrote one post over a year ago about turning off Fox News in public places and had people say they were going to ask businesses to turn on Fox. And they said this on DU.

You never know.

I gave you a rec, too.

26. You, Me, Wellstone, and Harry Truman agree.
"I've seen it happen time after time. When the Democratic candidate allows himself to be put on the defensive and starts apologizing for the New Deal and the fair Deal, and says he really doesn't believe in them, he is sure to lose. The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don't want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign." ---Harry Truman

QED Massachusetts

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone
