It's a beautiful Spring day and the Blue Angels are in town.

It's near 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky as I watched them do their maneuvers this afternoon. I saw 2 jets pass each other at treetop level going opposite directions. The noise is incredible, especially since I work 3rd shift and sleep days and the airport is just a few miles from my house. I do have some misgivings about an air show over a residential area after the accident last month. I also watched the Blue Angels with a bittersweet feeling, thinking how there was a time when the sight of U.S. jets or planes would give people in foreign lands a sense of joy and salvation, but now many, many ordinary people in the world look upon our planes with a sense of fear and doom. What happened? We used to be the good guys.

just for show bugs the hell out of me also. If you gotta use up resources make it for a real purpose.

They freely admit it.

I don't like them either, and have to go through their Seattle visit once a year.

It's unseemly to wave the flag when you're the strongest nation. I long for the humility promised by the little pissant Bush.

There are far too many air show fatalities. One of these days soon the crowd watching will be hit with a massive accident.
