Question? Other Than ANSWER, Does Anyone Have Information About
the March on the 17th of March in D.C.??

I would also like to know where I can find "Good" connections to make reservations now. I want to take my grand-daughter with me and we will extend our visit for longer than most people are going. I've been to D.C. quite a few times, and as she will be 12 yrs old in May and I think this would be a GREAT experience for her.

2. They're the ones who are organizing it.
They have links to transportation at their web site. I'm not sure UFPJ wants to have anything to do with ANSWER any more.

3. Do You Think It Will Be A DUD?? I See that Howard Zinn Will
be there, but he's pretty GLOBAL I know. I went to the last ANSWER March and there were a lot of complaints... so I don't want the experience to be a negative one for my grand-daughter.

4. Zinn is wonderful.
I was at the ANSWER march in September '05. The biggest complaints were that the message was fragmented and that they stacked the speakers at the last minute, delaying the start of the march. I'd say go. You can talk with your daughter about what's going on around you.

5. Oh, I Love Zinn Myself... Just Wondering If They Are Going To Have
all the other speakers they had at the last one. I do recall how long it took to start the march the last time. I think we got started around 3:30 or so! But here at DU, many complained because they thought it was Anti-War and so many other groups went on and on.

I suppose we could always wander around if she doesn't enjoy the speakers. But I DO want to get a head-start on this one because I missed last week. I need to check for flights and a place to stay because this will be her first experience. Last time I came with another friend and we stayed with someone who offered us his place, and it out in the Heights and a LOT of walking to the terminals.

6. The speaker list on the web site is huge.
You and your daughter could have fun by reenacting Abbie Hoffman's Levitation of the Pentagon

8. Try the Harrington Hotel.
It's a funky old hotel close to the Mall. We filled it with activists last weekend.

14. Thanks For ALL The Good Info! I Really Appreciate It... BUNCHES!
Sorry I'm so late getting back to you, but today was my 18 yr. old's birthday and he had a Basketball game! They WON! He wanted banana pudding and I had to STAY HOME and make it, plus play babysitter for my mother-in-law (Alzheimer's)

I so wanted to be there last week-end but had committed to one here! We actually had about 500 people and that's tremendous for this area. Cruella's old District, and we are still fighting about 18,000 plus LOST votes!

I'll check out the hotel tomorrow, maybe I can get another person to share the cost with me, but if not I'm gonna SPLURGE! I hope we won't have to be marching for Iran by that time!!

10. Where do you see the speaker list?
I went to ANSWER's website and there are some quotations on the front page from various people Zinn, Clark, and so on about why they are marching on the Pentagon and than there is a list of endorsers, but I don't see a list of speakers. I'd love to see who is speaking. I'm a big Zinn fan and also a fan of Cindy Sheehan and Ron Kovic and was sort of assuming they would be speaking. But I was wondering how money of the speakers were people like Zinn and Sheehand and how many more of the usual ANSWER crew like Brian Becker and such.

13. Well some of the sponsors look pretty good, such Kovic, Sheehan, and Waters
so if they're speakers that would be great. However, others don't look so hot, such as the Vietnam Veterans Against the War Anti-Imperialist (not to be confused with the real VVAW) or the usual ANSWER types, such as Brian Becker.

I'm hoping its as successful as 1/27, but I wonder if ANSWER can still pull something like that off. The thing, in my opinion, thats makes UFPJ so successful is that its a real coalition made up of diverse groups. All of the diverse groups do a part to bring people out. ANSWER is just a collection of various front groups, some of which I can't find any info other than that they're members of ANSWER.

I'm hoping for success though.

15. See, That's Why I Asked... Other Than ANSWER... Here's a Link To
the promo I got.

http://www.answercoalition.org OR dc@internationalanswer.org

But I feel the same way as you about the coaliton thing. I did get to see Amy Goodman & Joan Baez the last time in 2005, but it was very very LATE with the march and people were STILL giving speeches at 3:00 PM! Cindy Sheehan was at that one too, with her tent city.

18. But the one last September United For Peace and Justice were there
I'm going unless something major happens to me, but I'm cringing at the thought of having to listen to some of the usual ANSWER speaches. I was at September too and after the 3rd or 4th Answer speaker who got up and spoke about something other than Iraq got on I walked away and just started looking around through the crowd.
