Can't wait for the glorious 10th anniversay of 9/11

The 9th anniversary so brought Americans together, and brought the world together with America, that I can hardly wait for the tenth anniversary.

It occurs to me that America may now be too polarized and divided to have commemorative days.

Maybe there should be designated separate red and blue days for various commemorations. Or cancel them altogether.

That should help just a bit.

to see all the attention paid to the day seeing as it was only the ninth year, not what most people would consider a "significant" anniversary, like a decade...15 years...20 years, etc.

So many people were posting "remember this day" stuff on Facebook that I didn't want to put anything cheerful up for fear I'd be accused of being some kind of heartless ghoul for not being mired in sadness and grief.

OK...I saw some sad things, remembered how awful the day was, and then went on.


One friend of Mr Pip's really got into the whole "Let's flog ourselves silly and throw salt on the wounds for the dead" stuff and let it ruin her entire day.

I dunno...just didn't make sense to me.

anyway, if this year is any indication of what next year...the tenth anniversary...will be like, I think I may have to turn off my TV and computer and sit in a dark room someplace till it's over.

sigh...
