Atrios hints that Warren's 'interim' appointment may be a craftier move than 'recess appointment'
Atrios says:

My understanding is 'interim appointment' was part of law, so this isn't a standard 'recess appointment' type of thing. Warren.

Is this because a recess appointment is time-limited while an interim appt. could last all the way to whenever an agency head is confirmed by the Senate--which in this climate, may be never?

1. Yes, "interim" means "indefinite."

2. That certainly puts a different complexion on the whole thing,
donnit?

Are we gonna end up with a Democratic administration all of a sudden? That would sure thrill the hell out of me.

This, plus the 50 bil start on infrastructure & jobs, + the tough talk on tax cuts for the rich, all amount to a ray of hope. I'm not a professional naysayer (and if I'm a professional leftist, I must be the world's worst-paid one), and I long for things to cheer about in the direction of the country.

5. Impressive
If Obama makes this move, I will definitely give him some high marks both for the quality of Warren AND a real chess type strategy in getting her in office. Kudos to Obama. I hope to see more of this.
