Delaware Tea Party candidate Christine O'Donnell made a point of telling the audience at a candidate forum Thursday night that her "faith has matured" and that her statements from the late 90's about AIDS and masturbation should not be taken as representing her current beliefs.

There may, however, be more serious trouble for O'Donnell on the horizon. In a brief statement posted Friday morning on its Facebook page, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington announced, "CREW calls for FEC and criminal investigation into Christine O'Donnell. Next week, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) will ask the Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss to open a criminal investigation into Christine O'Donnell's abuse of campaign funds. We'll also ask the Federal Election Commission to look into the matter. It seems pretty clear to us that she has been using her campaign money to finance her personal life, which is flat-out illegal.

and stated, that I thought it was illegal. I can't for the life of me remember who they were investigating some time ago, but some one was doing this. Not to the extent that O'Donnell is said to have been doing. Can any body remember the congress person's name.

I think he did that. Anyway, she will slip through probably by calling it a loan from campaign and then paying it back.

I just got off the phone with her and said please vote for Coons. She didn't like that she tried to out Castle. Mom said, we know he is gay, what is the deal with that? Got to love her! I just don't want Delaware to be complacent thinking she has no chance to win.

I'm all for an investigation AFTER the election. Right now any publicity, including negative, toward this publicity hound will be twisted as to a "political attack" and spun day in and out on the corporate media.

There's definitely cause to investigate and her current spending should be closely scrutinized, but lets get her out of harms way first...make sure the only way she ever enters the Senate is on the tour.

It's not a good idea so close to an election.

It looks like dirty tricks, and thus would probably backfire, especially given her telegenic nature.

Now if she had attacked someone physically, shoplifted Etc. that would be a winner, but this nope, it's just as likely to help her tremendously as hurt her a little bit.

Most Dems. know her as a joke.

Democrats are not aware of just how media savvy this woman is. She's Sara Palin on steroids, and now she's the nominee should not be with respect you accord any challenger who has beat the odds against a powerful establishment.

Her big advantage against Castle was her ability to all these charges to her advantage. THEY ARE NOT NEW. Most were uncovered during the R primary.

She can and probably would claim she is the "persecuted UNDERDOG" because the powers that be don't want a real member of the middle class in government.

SHE DID very successfully IN THE REPUKE PRIMARY.

Her Democratic primary is hardly a scintillating campaigner and has zero charisma - which doesn't matter if your opponent doesn't either, but SHE DOES.

We may think shes a joke, but the independent voter doesn't know her well yet (Delaware's R is a closed primary - so only R pay Attn.)

Now that they start to pay Attn. nothing will make Dems. look worse than opening a legal case against her so close to an election.

She also has a "money in the bank reply" and will continue to work wonders.

She will say to those who attack her "I'm no trust fund baby". She will probably also claim to be helping her mother stay financially afloat. For many people that is all they need to hear to turn their backs on those that attack her for abusing her campaign money and support her as the underdog.

While so far it looks like she did break the law, she did NOT break the law in the way that would automatically turn voters against her.

Many voters consider the election fund raising laws to be just general rules of the game, not a measure of right and wrong.

It comes off far more as a gotcha rather than catching a crook.

Some people thrive when under attack, and whither when ignored.

She is one of those, and I'm sure Repug operatives have noticed this and are just praying an investigation would start before the election.

It would be all she needs to suck all the attn. from the charisma challenged Chris Coons and focus it on her, and turn the election into a referendum on abuse of power against the Democrats in office. In today's climate you don't need any facts to convince many this is the truth, and her violations of election campaign laws just an excuse to use government to get her.
