1. Provide a link to Media Matters, tell your friend to try to absorb
the truth, though I'm sure MM would be badmouthed, too.

4. I personally ignored my cousin, called my sister about it since she is a typical
so called conservative hating government that steadily bleeds off the government she lately is denouncing and has for quite some time, My sister advised me to ignore her page which I have and I haven't missed a thing...some people are just a bit mentally unfit enough where common sense no longer applies in their so called minds...

She is also an alcoholic, has been for years, been married several times, seems her newest one is a teabaggin fool which she seems to have adopted in order to get her rent paid more easily...

Sometimes you just have to ignore some of them...

5. I agree about
providing a link to the Glenn Beck articles at Media Matters. Before you do that, though, write a sentence or two saying that you USED to like Beck, but then somebody turned you on to this interesting website (then give the Media Matters link to Glen Beck). Then say it really opened your eyes.

20. That's an excellent strategy...
It makes the person more willing to listen to the message because you related to them first (at least from their perspective). My husband is a teacher and he does that kind of stuff with his students all time.

10. "Adios."
Which is just what I did to a former FB "friend". She also "likes" Sarah Palin and "DEAR LORD, THIS YEAR YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE ACTOR, PATRICK SWAYZIE. YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE ACTRESS, FARAH FAWCETT. YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE SINGER, MICHAEL JACKSON. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW, MY FAVORITE PRESIDENT IS BARACK OBAMA. AMEN." The latter caused me to dump her completely. I have no use, whatsoever, for people like that.

my own profile is probably just as shocking/offensive to some of my Conservative friends and relatives as theirs are to me.

Nobody has yet commented on my political leanings, or the fact that my religious views are "Rude" (yes, that's exactly what I entered).

People don't bother me and I don't bother them.

If they like Beck, they like Beck. Really nothing I can do. I am sure that friend will disagree with some of the things I like. If they were truly your friend, you will respect the differences in the friendship and leave it at that. Maybe the best thing would be to not talk about it and discuss the things that connected your friendship in the first place.

12. I tend to ignore them. Face book is not the right medium for opening
a closed mind.

I think the best you can do on face book is to challenge them to a game of scrabble.

15. Probably nothing
Contacting lots of old friends means I've got to leave room for people having grown in all sorts of strange directions.

If I'm brought into the conversation or challenged, I'll certainly respond. But unless I want to join in on a "like", they just pass me by.

18. I'm very politically active on facebook
So they get pulmulled with all my links and sources daily :-)
They also get to see all the comments of my ever growing Liberal
activist network friends .

I do have a couple family members who are becker palinites . They stay
very quiet . when they don't I engage them in debate , that they walk
away from .

I am what I am , and that isn't going to change on facebook

19. I stopped ALL communication with them.
There is absolutely no reason for trying to communicate with a Beckerhead. They are ignorant and stupid. And the ones on Facebook I know are also right wing Christians so it is pointless to even talk with them. They are members of a cult and their small, closed minds are impenetrable.

21. I have family and friends who say the dumbest things
You know, things that come straight out of the ass of Newt Gingrich and sent through the air ways of Not News. It's exhausting trying to respond to everything. Fortunately, they've got redeeming value. Try to find the redeeming value in your friend and avoid confrontation if you're like me--not good at it. I suspect you're not so good at it, either.

and that you've cornered the market on them and following Glenn's advice making a killing. Just now for a low, low introductory price you can get your friend in on this massive investment before the opportunity is gone.

I'd like to, but I use Facebook to promote the band I play with so I tend to keep it non-political. FB helps me put butts in the seats on Friday and Saturday nights. Pack em in and get another booking, whatever or whoever it takes. ;)
