Senator Baucus Asks IRS To Investigate Karl Rove's Group For Violating Tax Laws
Great news for our AmericanCrossroadsWatch.org campaign, and many thanks to all those who helped. Over the past two weeks, more than 6000 of you have sent our letter to Congress demanding an investigation of Karl Rove’s American Crossroads group for raising tens of millions in secret corporate donations to support pro-corporate candidates. And yesterday, Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus heeded our call by asking the Internal Revenue Service to conduct a full investigation not only of Rove’s group but all groups improperly using a tax-exempt status to manipulate elections. And, to make it clear that he means business, he asked the IRS to identify what tax laws have been broken by these secretive organizations. Here is a full copy of the letter.
Our campaign has become the go-to resource for the media, politicians and even candidates who want to know about the shadowy groups trying to buy politicians. And we have just released a new ad calling on Ohio Senate candidate Rob Portman to reject the support of Rove and American Crossroads. See it here.

We need your support to run these ads, press releases, and legal filings. Please make a donation here to help us and protect our elections this year.

There is a great deal of information on the AmericanCrossroadsWatch.org site, so spend some time there and pass it on to your friends.

1. Sadly because of the Supreme Court's, Citizens United ruling and
.... and the republicans blocking of disclosure laws as per $s spent on political
activities Rove can do whatever he wants.

2. This AFTER the HCR plan he set before us?
Herd us into line to buy mandatory corporate insurance.

Then complain about corporate influence on politics.

And please leave a donation in the plate.

Well played, sir. Well played.

6. Reid worked with the Finance Committee and the HELP committee plans
If you remember the process at the end of 2009, you would remember that as changes were made to retain the blue dog Democrats - who were needed, the final plan ended up looking very much like the plan that came out of Finance. The structures that it creates will be one of the most important thing that was done - they really do provide a framework that can be improved. The fact is that this was likely the most progressive plan that could pass with teh needed 60 votes.

7. And they succeeded in rallying the country behind that plan
Now everyone, left, right and center, hates it.

They fed us to the corporations.

They aren't against corporations, they're against corporations that don't donate to THEM.

5. I completely understand the concern but the point is, at least
the matter is now in the hands of the IRS. For what that is worth, we can only hope some good may come from it.

4. Without disclosure, this is nothing more than a money laundering scheme.
I can not withdraw or deposit more than ten thousand dollars without a report created. How can these people move such large sums without even giving their names? I think this is a "Homeland Security" issue..as well as an IRS issue.

8. BUT if they have a tax free status and are putting out political
ads they can be prosecuted if the IRS chooses. And I wish somewhere along the line they could be cited for tax fraud and rove's ignorant ass would end up in jail where he belonged all along.
