Murkowski and Tea Party Express Battle on Airwaves

Lisa Murkowski is determined to have the last word in the Alaska Senate race.

But, to do that, Ms. Murkowski, who is running as a write-in candidate, must drown out the voice of the well-financed Tea Party group that helped oust her in the G.O.P primary –- and make sure voters can spell her name.

Her campaign put out two new advertisements on Thursday, as the Tea Party Express — the independent group that spent more than $600,000 in support of her primary opponent, Joe Miller — prepared a radio and television campaign of its own.

“Wait, the Tea Party Express? Isn’t that the same California group that dumped half a million into Joe Miller’s campaign?” a man says in one of Ms. Murkowski’s new spots as an airplane flies across the Alaska skyline. “This is my chance and Alaska’s chance to get our senator back,” another women adds.
