"Our constitution doesn't apply to you!"

The construction of a community center and mosque in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has garnered more attention due to the extreme rhetoric and actions of the project’s opponents. The ARF and FBI are investigating an arson attack, a Republican congressional candidate dubbed it an “Islamic training center,” protesters said Muslims “are out to overthrow this government and this country” and another detractor shouted at a Muslim woman, “our constitution doesn’t apply to you.”

This is a very ugly example of "us vs. them". What makes the protesters think the constitution applies to them? Or me? Or you?

Regardless of what you think of Islam, Muslims, or religion in general, you should reject the "us vs. them" mindset.

Here we sit in one of the biggest melting pots in the world with a system designed to support all people and the bigots make such a large impact.

Personally, I think his essays would read very differently.
