Joe Miller Says McConnell Is Open To Shutting The Government Down
Edited on Fri Oct-08-10 09:46 AM by Me.
Go for it boys.

“In a fascinating interview with the National Review, Alaska Senate candidate Joe Miller said that in a private conversation with Mitch McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader expressed openness to the idea of a government shutdown

"There was a comment made at breakfast this morning about shutting down the government, and he reacted in a positive way," Miller told the Review's Robert Costa. "I'm not going to quote him, but I think that he recognizes that that's on the table."

A spokesman for McConnell's office said he could not attest to the anecdote's veracity as he was not in the private meeting.

"I don't know what reacting in a positive way means or what the comment was," said the spokesman. "So it's tough for me to hypothesize on it."…cont…

1. So if government gets shut down
Edited on Fri Oct-08-10 09:52 AM by Proud Liberal Dem
McConnell and all of the other Republicans helping shut it down will be out of job and not drawing a paycheck (and won't be able to apply for unemployment), right?

Right?

:wtf:

despite what Dick Morris says. :eyes:

However, the larger question I have is, why they are eager to serve in government if all they want to do is shut it down (which technically puts THEM out of a job)? People should be incensed that the Republicans, primarily in the US Senate (NOW), demand to get paid for NOT doing the jobs that they were elected to do. People should be apoplectic that Republicans are even taking seriously the prospect of shutting down government but, with Fox News and other corporate media carrying the Republican Tea Party's wat.....er...tea, I don't really expect people to know much about this, although they WILL if and when the Republican Tea Party finally succeeds in shutting government down and people, including many "Tea Partiers", see what life would REALLY be like without the Federal Government.

My guess is that McConnell and most Republicans are not really serious about actually shutting down government but rather playing to their "base"- to keep them riled up and motivated to vote. The long-term problem for them, of course, is that they will "reap the whirlwind" that follows once the "teabaggers" realize this. Of course, by then the Republican Tea Party wrecking crew in Congress will be in full swing and the rest of us (including them) will end up suffering.

4. Alaska- please don't send this vile person to D.C!

Now that he;s pissed the Palin's off, I wouldn't be surprised to see some
dirt on the Miller's seep out.

6. Good for them
I don't think most Americans would stand for it. We have real problems that demand solutions, not spoiled brats playing games.

7. That's because the GOP has nothing to offer but Bush's snake oil
After President Bush’s slash and spend policies turned a record surplus into a massive debt, Republicans are like a bunch of junkies who keep claiming that NOW they’ll finally go straight and stay clean.

But we’ve heard this song before. After Reagan and Bush’s dad, they claimed again and again that THIS time they’ll finally stop spending more than Democrats. Facts don’t lie—the debt actually fares better under Democratic administrations than the Republicans. Bush the younger ran up more than a trillion in debt—which the Republicans are now blaming Obama for.

Republicans opposed the stimulus, yet try to take credit for its success even as they trash it at the same time----yet their affections for the stimulus could not stay hidden forever:
