October 8, 2010
Ex-NFL player Glenn Coffee, who quit the NFL at the age of 23 to follow Jesus earlier this year, has been arrested for felongy possession of a firearm. Kind of sounds just like Lil Wayne, doesn’t it? Except Coffee wasn’t driving a bus, and the police searched his vehicle and found the weapon after they pulled him over for speeding. Yahoo Sports reports that the vehicle was not registered and didn’t have insurance on it — all problems in Florida — but it was the loaded, cocked weapon in his center console that brought out the handcuffs. I can’t imagine why a follower of Jesus Christ needed to be speeding with a loaded weapon. Aren’t the disciples supposed to trust in God to protect them, and die willingly in His service? I’m sure more information about what Coffee has been doing since he quit the 49ers at the beginning of what looked to be a brilliant career.
