1. I don't hate Hillary. I think she can win. So: other
I'd just prefer that Al Gore did.

The country would be better off, in my opinion.
Just one man's opinion, all the same.

3. I don't hate Hillary ...
She's not my first choice (or second) ... but I do think she can win if she's the nominee.

4. The script has been written: Hillary/Obama vs. Random Bush Doctrine Supporter...
"And while the Democrats were to be commended for breaking gender and racial barriers, and while the electorate clearly does not support the GOP's policies, the electorate was clearly not ready for a woman or racial minority this time."

And here's where the REAL genius comes in....

Hillary/Obama can lead in the polls, hell, they can lead the exit polls, and the post-Diebold line will be:

"In this 'Politically Correct' culture, respondents were reluctant to tell us how they ACTUALLY voted."

8. I am concerned about outsourcing support for India and others from her!
Supporting Hillary – I don’t know if I can after reading about her ties to India's millionaires and IBM saying they are moving more tech jobs to India - perhaps 100,000 more lay offs to come - refer to this link -

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Business/Intl_Busine...

And going back to 2005 at this link from India -

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/South_Asia/GC01Df03.html

Hillary has been at the forefront in defending free trade and outsourcing. During the height of the anti-outsourcing backlash in the US last year, she faced considerable flak for defending Indian software giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for opening a center in Buffalo, New York. "We are not against all outsourcing; we are not in favor of putting up fences," Hillary said firmly, despite inevitably invoking the ire of the anti-free trade brigade

If anyone has info on this pro or con I would like to read it. I am leaning toward Gore right now.

:applause:

9. She might be able to win, but it will be harder for her than the other Dem candidates
She has more name recognition, more money, a big machine and a popular ex-President for a husband, yet her favorable/unfavorables, "would you definitely vote for/against" numbers and general election numbers are pretty consistently the worst of our "top tier" candidates.

Dems have a history of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, and a Hillary nomination brings us one step closer to that, imo.

Plus, I think she would be a mediocre President.

11. That's pretty much my take on it as well.
I think she can win,but man, there's a lot of people who don't want to vote FOR her and a lot of people who want to vote AGAINST her.Not a thrilling and inspirational combo.

13. I agree.
While I desperately want a woman in the office sooner than later, I think there are many out there who would vote Democrat instantly but maybe NOT for her. I think she carries too much baggage for her to overcome; we need a Democrat in the White House and we need every vote we can get. Next time, Hillary . . .

14. There are plenty of women who would make great presidents and great candidates
I just don't think it is Hillary.

Gov. Sebelius (in my avatar) was considered for the VP slot by the Kerry campaign, and for good reason.

Go listen to Bill Clinton talk about Hillary in this video clip from her web site.

21. Yep. Many strengths, yet she consistently underperforms Edwards and Obama
in about everything BUT the primary polls. She has every advantage a candidate could have, but put her up against any Repub and she does worse than Edwards and Obama about 95% of the time.

19. I don't hate her, and I think she could win.
I think she has a LOT to overcome, but I think she's pretty determined and just may pull it off.

I think the media caricature of Hillary is a lot worse than the real thing. She's not THAT grating, and she's certainly no socialist feminazi.

She still needs to convince me, but I think she's already taken way more seriously than Geraldine Ferraro was in 1984.

In a way, I think her "edge" may be her saving grace. I don't think a woman with an image of being a softy could do it.

She has a WAY better chance of winning than Richardson, Kucinich, or Dodd would against ANY GOP candidate.

Is she stronger than Obama and Edwards (and possibly Gore)? I don't know yet, but since most of her "high negatives" are largely based on false memes put out about her by RW radio hosts, etc., I think her negatives will fall somewhat as people get to know her better.

And as much as I hated her vote for the IWR, she can use it to play up her hawkishess and reassure people that she would stand up against enemies, terrorists, whatever. And I kinda think she really would. She seems like she'd be quicker to use force than Giuliani, for instance.

Let's hope that if she is elected, she would use force more sparingly and ethically than Mr. Bush...

23. Other: The 2008 Election is the Democrats' to lose.
I really don't believe the GOP can win unless the Democrats take a dive and abandon their own constituency. Some within the Party, no doubt, see the current advantage in the upcoming election as even greater license to use any means to promulgate their own agenda and values, independent of the fundamental interests of the majority of people in this country. This, I believe, is the sole threat ... but it's very real.

Although I regard her position on the war as extremely poor, I have no other problem
with her.

She is smart, dedicated, hard working and forceful.

I cannot say that I am supporter, but I think she gets a raw deal from many.

If she made an Edwardian statement about the war, I would like her better.
