Robbers target buggy-driving Plain people (Amish or Old-Order Mennonite, I assume)
The world has gone to hell in a handbasket. Not that this is unprecedented here in Amish Country -- but here's a story about thuggies robbing buggies (driven by Plain folks). I just want to go back to bed for a few years or so.

Bandits target 2 buggies

Lancaster County, PA - A pair of armed men robbed the occupants of two horse-drawn buggies Sunday afternoon in southern Lancaster County, investigators said. State police said Sunday night they were still looking for the robbers who targeted buggies in Fulton and East Drumore townships.

... Both times, two white males stopped the horse-drawn buggies on the roadway and threatened their occupants with a weapon, police said.

The bandits got a small amount of cash and fled in a silver four-door Dodge Stratus each time, according to police. Four white females also were in the vehicle that transported the bandits, police said.

Although horse-and-buggy heists sound bizarre, state police Sgt. Douglas Burig said they occur fairly often. "This happens every year. I've seen about 40 of them," said Burig, a 12-year veteran of the force. "They do it for the money, and sometimes it's a very small amount." ...

1. The thieves know they won't be reported
The very height of cowardice, but it's of a piece with the Freeper fantasy of slugging pacifists, because they know they won't pay the usual price for being a creepy little fucker. Of course, one Harrison Ford/John Book undercover guy ("You're making a mistake") could ruin their day entirely.

3. I just had a vision of the thieves being frustrated about how little cash they found
.... and having to go away with a couple of chickens and some jars of preserves!
