About those "Attacks on the Left"
First of all, let me say that I am highly offended by those few on the Left that try to paint me as DLC, anti-Left, non-Progressive, etc simply because I disagree with their opinions of how Progression is implemented.

I AM a Liberal. I AM a Progressive. I have the same goals that you do. Just because we may disagree on the way to achieve those goals is no reason for anyone to broad-brush anyone else as "anti-" anything.

However, actions do have consequences. As much as anyone of us may wish it to be different, we have to work within the parameters we are given.

You have to play the hand you were dealt.

When you are dealt a shitty hand, there are some people who just "give up" and wait until they get the perfect hand. I have a name for those people - I call them "Losers" because they never win. But there are other people who try to make the best of it. If they are dealt a losing hand, they mitigate the loses. Or, they find a way to turn it to advantage.

Then, there are Eeyore's who hate the game, lose, and then do nothing but criticize the game itself because they lost.

"Family Guy" portrayed them as "Contrarians" who will always criticize the position of whoever's in power.

I once had a friend who described a mutual acquaintance as someone who would "bitch if the world were perfect because then she wouldn't have anything to bitch about."

I have no problem with legitimate criticisms of the current administration, but I have seen so many criticisms that "twist" the truth! I have seen so-called Leftists use the same Rovian techniques that they used to criticize that it literally makes me sick! I thought WE were better than that! I thought we were about "thoughtful analysis" and putting things in perspective.

When I see so-called Leftist blogs and sites that were supposed to be dedicated to the "Truth" twist facts and analysis - it makes me sick.

For example, I may be wrong but I'm sure I remember Obama praising several sites and specifically mentioning FireDogLake and thanking them for ideas helping shape Health Care Reform. But then, as the debate sincerely begins, Jane Hamsher decided to attack a particular amendment regarding generic drugs.

The amendment itself was a good amendment and sought to close some "holes" and was a great improvement over the existing law. But for some unexplained reason, Hamsher herself attacked the amendment and TOTALLY misrepresented what the implications were. I am not making this charge lightly - I read the old law and the proposed amendment online myself. If Hamsher were totally honest about her stated objectives, she SHOULD have supported the amendment.

Bottom line - she LIED.

Why would she lie? She and FDL had always been an excellent source, before. I only knew that she was wrong on this point. As I continued to watch the site, they became more and more unreliable. They would find "facts" and then spin them with a Rovian expertise to turn the "truth" into "anti-Truth". They even had some bloggers leave because they were concerned about the direction the site was taking. But the site continued to take every opportunity to "spin" against anything Democratic or Obama.

Is Jane Hamsher a "Contraian"? Is she just a ratings whore? I don't know. All I know is that I can't trust her or her site, anymore.

Sad.

What about Glenn Greenwald? Well, I haven't been following him as much. I suspect that he's just a Contrarian. With Bush, you didn't have to make up anything. The truth couldn't keep up. But some people know that the only way their blog can get hits and make money is to create controversy.

I have some criticisms of the Obama Administration that I would love to talk about within context. But when so many people come up with such outrageous tin-foil-hat charges, I don't think I can discuss those criticisms rationally. And people tend to focus on those small criticisms and forget the PROGRESS that Obama and the Dem Congress has actually made.

Despite what some of you may say, the first 2 years of Obama's Admin is going down in history as one of the most PROGRESSIVE periods in American history.

Now, I'm am sorry for our LGBT members. I know that you have been asked to "just wait" for so long. But I think that the Courts are the best place to settle DOMA and DADT. It's a matter of civil rights, nothing more and nothing less. But I can remember when any type of homosexuality was considered a psychological "sickness". No shit.

Many people want Obama to just pass Executive Orders. Many of these are the same people who criticized Bush for the "Unitary Executive" theory of Dictatorial Rule. You criticized Bush for doing it, and now criticize Obama for NOT doing it? How does that make any sense?

But Obama is smart enough to know that if he just writes an XO, it can be rescinded by the next Pres.

Obama wants to solve the problems permanently, not temporarily. He wants Change that LASTS. Change that represents REAL change, not just band-aids.

Yeah, I've got some issues and complaints. But when you start just making shit up or twisting the truth - I'm going to call you on your bullshit. COUNT on it!
