Cuz it turns out that Pat Sajak is not only a world-class right-wing asshat, he's also pretty goddam stupid to boot.

Pat Sajak: Should Public Employees Always Be Allowed To Vote?
Jillian Rayfield | October 13, 2010, 6:37PM

Have you read Wheel Of Fortune host Pat Sajak's blog post for National Review Online today? Because if you have, you might be saying: "I'd like to buy a W, T, and an F please, Pat."

That's because Sajak asks that question that's been on no one's mind: "Should state workers be able to vote in state elections on matters that would benefit them directly?"

In what appears to be his first post, Sajak pointed out today that no one in his family, or even his "kids' teachers or the guys who rotate my tires" is allowed to appear on his show, because there is at least the appearance of a conflict of interest. "In nearly all private and public endeavors," he continues, "there are occasions in which it's only fair and correct that a person or group be barred from participating because that party could directly and unevenly benefit from decisions made and policies adopted."

So, he asks, what about those state employees who have a greater stake in a vote's outcome than the rest of us?

The rest: http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/10/pat-sajak-should-public-employees-always-be-allowed-to-vote.php?ref=fpblg

(facepalm)

4. Why don't we just carry this idea to its logical extreme...
...and stop letting people vote altogether? After all, everyone who makes up "the public" has a stake in how public money is spent, and every election touches on public money and what to do with it.

What we really need is an omnipotent dictator! I nominate Pat Sajak!

Or maybe we should just hand our voting rights over to the corporations? After all, private corporations couldn't possibly have any stake in how public money is spent, eh? :eyes: No conflict of interest = problem solved!

6. OH yes, Mr. Sajak is a right-winger
If anyone remembers the defunct Pat Sajak show, he had Rush Limbaugh substitute for him. That was when the audience fought back.

He has given speeches at Hillsdale College. Apparently he's on the trustees.

And he's hosted a show on Fox News before.

Enough said.

8. So I guess we would delete ALL corporation CEO's all
the billionaires, like Koch etc from voting because their republican candidate would want to make laws to benefit them. We could cut the tea bags out because they would want to benefit themselves. I guess by the time you finish there would be no body left and we would just jet in congress from OH say outer space, cause that would be about the only place where someone would not be concerned about the reasons members of congress make laws.

9. We had a local candidate raise a similar issue
whether public sector unions (firefighters specifically) could endorse a candidate (his opponent). The candidate claimed that fire fighters were using public money ( because it was deducted from their paycheck and paid to the union he said it was still public money) to endorse a candidate.
Needless to say he got his ears beat back, but he still claims it's public money.

Never watched Wheel. Saw Sajak as a fill in on talk shows long ago. Pretty apparent there is not much there.
