Schiff introduces Gonzales no-confidence resolution
Reps. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Artur Davis (D-Ala.) introduced a resolution Monday urging President Bush to fire Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

The two lawmakers, both of whom are former federal prosecutors, are highly critical of Gonzales’s handling of the firing of several U.S. attorneys. Their resolution also states that the attorney general has failed to “assure the public that the laws of the nation are being enforced in an independent, nonpartisan and judicious manner.”

“I have been deeply disappointed in Mr. Gonzales’s mismanagement of the Justice Department, his conflicting statements and testimony, and the low regard he seems to have for the professionals in his charge,” Schiff said.

A no-confidence resolution was introduced in the Senate last week.

Davis said passing the resolutions would “send an unmistakable signal that a change is vital at the Department of Justice.”

1. Schiff is my congressman
and we've more or less been at odds since he's been in office, mostly over the IWR & his stand on the Patriot Act. I spoke w/ him over the weekend and he never mentioned this action to defend himself against some of the things I was saying to him.

Here is an excerpt of an e-mail I sent to another party delegate regarding that encounter.

I ran into Adam while getting a haircut . He had just left the coffee you attended. ( no he wasn't getting a haircut, but he was doing some serious politicing w/ Black voters of the district ) We chatted for about 10 minutes with me thanking him for a couple votes he's made lately that reflect where the rest of the country is, but, as I have for the past several years, pushed him to be even more assertive about the withdrawal of our troops from Iraq.
As always, he listened respectfully and changed the subject to inquire about the St Luke project and it's progress.

Although Schiff has move leftward ( only a bit ) since we recaptured the House, he has remained staunchly in the blue dog camp. His rationale is and always has been, his personal beliefs and his need to balance his positions between those of the more conservative constituents in the western part of the district ( Glendale & Burbank ) and the more liberal crowd in Pasadena and Altadena.

I'll have to call his office and thank him for this, but urge him to go to the next level and impeach Gonzo...just imagine the worms that are waiting to crawl out from under that rock.....
