Michele Bachmann backs out of Chamber sponsored event
Edited on Fri Oct-15-10 06:32 AM by wellstone dem
She's afraid to appear in her own district. Please donate to her opponent at www.tarrylclark.com.

http://www.sctimes.com/article/20101015/NEWS01/110150022/Bachmann-event-at-Ciatti-s-is-canceled

"Bachmann, R-Stillwater, was scheduled to have a public meet-and-greet event at Ciatti’s Ristorante this afternoon, the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday.

Hours after the initial announcement, the Chamber moved the event to its office and said it was open to Chamber members only.

By Thursday evening, the event was canceled after Bachmann’s office determined she had a scheduling conflict, Chamber President Teresa Bohnen said.

Bachmann is locked in a nationally visible re-election battle with DFL candidate Tarryl Clark, the Independence Party’s Bob Anderson and independent candidate Aubrey Immelman."

This event is in the hometown of Tarryl Clark, the opposition. Read the comments at the link, well worth it.

I couldn't even get one view with this post.

on edit:

To further demonstrate my pathetic nature, I mistook the lack of rec's for lack of views. I am now slinking away.

5. Would you invite hogs to tour a sausage factory?
The rubes are not welcome where corporate whores do their real business.

6. The Only Way To Beat Them Is To Vilify Them
The best way to get all this corporate and foreign money out of our elections is to make it painful for those who do the spending...and nothing is more painful for them than sunlight. For years the GOTB did a lot of business like this under the radar with little scrutiny. It's a political and money machine fed by large corporates championed by the Chamber of Horrors and other front groups where they can throw their money without having to disclose. This money not only goes to buying political offices but also the underworld of the rushpublican machine...the "think tanks" and other groups that are like a GOTB welfare system.

When taking money from the CoC is considered a liability you'll see candidates try to distance themselves...but they'll still take the coin. Ultimately the negative publicity and losing elections will make it too expensive of a proposition.
