We like to keep it clean here at Crooks and Liars. Is there a nice way to report that Tea Party Express in Delaware spent over $300.00 of their primary funds, presumably on behalf of Christine O'Donnell, lunching at an establishment called "Crabby Dicks"***?

Probably not.

***Crabby Dicks, the restaurant that promises you "free balls" (direct quote: "click here to git yer balls!") if you sign up for their mailing list, then jokes that you'll also receive emails of an "animated Obama morphing into funny animals". And THAT'S supposed to be a joke?

I guess they wanted to put the whole RNC bondage-themed nightclub fundraising in perspective.

5. OMG I ate there Saturday night, Soup was amazing, crab balls were burnt
Edited on Mon Oct-18-10 11:52 AM by LynneSin
We were leaving the outlet malls in Rehobeth heading home and the kids were getting hungry. I was hoping to go to the Surfing Crab, which has amazing food but absolutely nothing for kids. So we ended up at Crabby Dicks because we wanted crabs.

First this is a giant tourist trap. Hey let's name our restaurant something catchy to attract customers. As soon as you walk in the store it's a giant size room filled with Crabby Dick's merchandise.

It's nice that they give out popcorn but did you have to have it loaded with seasoning. I mean we had kids there who wanted popcorn but one bite of the seasoning and they were all upset. (they're use to Timothy's - they give out regular popcorn).

The Cream of Crab suit was amazing. I ended up getting 2 appetizers and the crab balls were just horrible. THe other app was crab claws and they didn't even put a dipping sauce of some form with them.

I wouldn't go there again except to get some of the soup. Surfing Crab is so much better!

Edit note: If I knew about the emails I would have gone elsewhere but when you have 2 hungry kids you go with the flow.

7. Haha, Lynne and the teabaggers!
:D Sounds like a Joe's Crab Shack kinda place which is all over TX. Actually, Joe's sounds exactly like your description, maybe minus the popcorn.

9. We have a Joe's Crab Shack here and well wasn't much better than that.
If we didn't have kids we would have definately been at the Surfing Crab. They just have amazing food but they don't cater towards children (lack of menu for kids). You have to understand down in Suffex County it's O'Donnelland, so I can't get too fussy looking for a place that is liberal leaning unless we tried to get into downtown Rehobeth instead of that massive commericial strip by the malls.

12. Problem is this - we weren't 'downtown'
If you're talking within Rehobeth by the beach - no where near that. Tanger Outlets has great sales in October with a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research (for $1 you can get a coupon for 25% off an item).

There is this great place further north on the highway, Lewes address - Surfing Crab. It's a very plain building and plain interior but the food is fabulous. I really wanted to eat there that night but it just didn't work out that way. When you have kids with you (my friend's, not mine) yoru choices change.

16. In other news - Crabby Dick's hangs an O'Donnell Witch outside the restaurant....
http://www.wboc.com/Global/story.asp?S=13310282

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- In a recent campaign ad, she insists she's not a witch. But a Christine O'Donnell effigy is dressed with the pointy, black hat and a "hocus pocus" sign along a busy Sussex County highway.

Is it good fun or going too far?

The Republican Senate candidate has downplayed comments aired years ago where O'Donnell admitted she "dabbled in witchcraft." In one of her first major campaign ads, O'Donnell told viewers, "I'm not a witch. I'm you."

The effigy of O'Donnell along Route 1 outside Crabby Dick's Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach is meant as a joke, co-owner John Buchheit said. The front sign tells drivers to "eat here or I'll turn you into a frog." Buchheit said he got the pieces for the effigy "from all over" and cut out O'Donnell's face from a poster placed in his front yard.

18. It's a popular place in Delaware

They are competing with "Big Peckers" chicken place down the road in Ocean City, so the name is not much of a novelty here.

Its location ensures that everyone sees it on the way to the beaches.
