6 months for hitting pregnant wife in stomach on plane
Edited on Mon Oct-18-10 08:26 PM by Liberal_in_LA
A man was sentenced to six months in federal prison for repeatedly hitting his pregnant wife in the stomach during a flight from Baltimore to Tampa last year.

A federal judge in Tampa sentenced 29-year-old David Henry Wysocki II of Palm Harbor on Monday. He had pleaded guilty to committing an assault on an aircraft. Authorities say that during the July 2009 AirTran flight, Wysocki threatened to kill his wife and unborn child and then hit her in the stomach.

At Monday's hearing, Wysocki told his wife that he was sorry and that he never meant to hurt her or the baby, which was born in good health. He blamed alcohol abuse for his actions.

Wednesday David Henry Wysocki was flying from Baltimore to Tampa along with his wife and two children. According to the FBI after the family boarded the plane Wysocki started yelling at his wife and her two daughters using profanity and threatening to kill her when the plane landed.

A few minutes into the flight he started punching his wife Amanda, who is 8-months-pregnant, in the left side. He also pinched her and bit her left arm and he continued to curse at the girls.

2. May sound crazy but I'm glad they were on an airplane when this happened.
He probably would have killed her at home.

4. wife decided to press charges on plane, said he'd held knife to her throat before
Being on plane, seeing others enraged by how he treated her probably gave her strength to press charges

7. They allow women who are 8 months pregnant on planes?
I thought you couldn't book flights for your later months?

14. I read all of the books when I was pregnant -
it said flying was pretty much safe the whole time. I would only worry about going into labor if it got too close to the due date.

9. ya, well it happens, and they don;t all get arrested either
my ex threwme from the dining room into the kitchen, i actually bounced the last few feet till i hit the cupboards. I was 8.5 mos pregnant..went into premature labor the next day and even though the doc looked at us like he suspected something...they waited till i was in the hospital bed before asking thos important questions...

"have you been a victim of domestic violence in the last 24 hours...?"

i looked at them, looked at my HUSBAND, standing *right* next to the bed, and sadly shook my head no...

thank goodness my baby was born okay at full term, thank goodness we were able to escape with our lives when he was 6 mos old...and thank goodness we have been abuse free for 7 years now...

but they don't always get caught...or prosecuted...

12. I've always known that domestic violence is common across
ALL socio-economics boundaries, not just the lower classes.

The difference is that the abusers in the upper socio-economic classes can afford lawyers to clean up their messes and keep their dirty laundry under wraps!

10. Partner violence is a lot more common than you might think....
and it's often never reported or punished.

I'm almost glad this happened on a plane - it could have turned out a lot worse if nobody was there to see it.
