Charter schools win wage battle in state's top court
ALBANY – Proponents of charter schools scored a victory in the state's highest court this morning, which ruled that the alternative public schools don't have to pay "prevailing wage" on building projects.

The Court of Appeals voted 5-2 to uphold a lower courts decision and toss a controversial August 2007 mandate under former Gov. Eliot Spitzer requiring the privately run, publicly funded schools to pay top union-level wages.

2. So they are public schools that are not really public schools.
I read that today, and I thought how convenient for them.

They get all the publicity and public and private money for being "public charters", but the court says they really are not.

Amazing.
