Dear Channel 7: We're turning you off!

Dear WHDH (Boston TV-7) management:

We've decided to turn you off. We tried you as an alternative
to WCVB's very biased news coverage but quite frankly, the
onslaught of political attack ads running in your station has
worn us out. We don't pay a utility to pump sewage into our
living room and we're certainly not going to support you
doing it either.

Will we be back after November 2nd? Perhaps, but I doubt
it. Amid your "if it bleeds it leads" breathless breaking news
stories, you don't provide enough actual hard news content
to justify watching you and our iPhones easily give us the
weather report.

I'm sure you're making a small fortune running all of these
mostly-Republican attack ads, but you're decimating your
viewership as you do so, hastening the long-term collapse
of broadcast television. I'm not sure that's the correct trade-
off if you intend to remain a viable business in the future.

As you noted, the TV stations are paid really well for the ads, by the organizations who make them. I just can't see the stations refusing that kind of $$. The Republican Governors Association and their ilk produce nothing BUT nasty attack ads around here because they can't produce viable (R)candidates in this area. They have no choice but to tear down Democrats.

My own district is an example....The (R) candidate is an anti-choice, homophobic, racist, birther, as well as a liar. In MA, that really won't come any where NEAR working. 'Course, I haven't actually seen any ads about the district on TV, either. The (R)s aren't even trying on this a-hat.

And if I see another of these nasty ads by the MA-GOP (borderline racist) against Patrick, I am going to explode.

on my local station as well, no matter how they try to hide it. A couple of nights ago, the show right after the nightly news, which is a local color type thing, had two main stories, one a fluffy sweet gag inducing story about Reagan (of all people) and the other was Baba Walters admonishing Joy and Whoopi for walking off the set, and just, you know, how unprofessional it was. The whole show reeked of Repubs - YEA!!! Dems - SNEER, SNARL. It was sickening, and I turned it off, and don't plan on turning it on again anytime soon.

I don't see any motivation for them to change.
