What gap? Dem workers have enthusiasm. "In fact, it's beyond enthusiasm--it's anger"
Larry Scanlon, AFSCME Political Director, on 'Countdown' a little while ago:

Scanlon said AFSCME held back on heavy political action in this campaign season until they saw the massive funding committed by the Right to capture a congressional majority.

He said it became an 'all hands on deck' situation when it became clear that the GOP intends to go after privatizing Social Security, eliminate defined benefits for workers, and repeal HCR.

His reply, when Olberman asked him about the so-called 'enthusiasm gap' between the parties:

"We're seeing MORE enthusiasm.... In fact, it's beyond enthusiasm--it's anger."

____________________________

It wasn't an earthshaking interview, except for that one snippet about what union activists are seeing on the ground. "...it's beyond enthusiasm--it's anger."

Important to note for anyone tempted to be disheartened by the MSM's constant harping on the 'enthusiasm gap' and the prospect for the Democratic Party losing umpty-ump seats--brazillions of seats!--in Congress.

With so many so committed to undermining our party's GOTV efforts, how refreshing it is to hear from someone whose troops on the front lines are reporting an entirely different story.

Yes, the party in power always loses seats in mid-term elections. But the outlook need not be so dire if we keep the recent momentum going and remain committed to our candidates and keep contributing and volunteering and working to defeat all the whackjob wingnut and teabagger candidates the conservatives have found themselves stuck with.

Scanlon's comments are just one more thing that leads me to say, "Enthusiasm gap my ass!"

We have a slogan, "Yes, we can!" But I can't help being partial to an older one from the WWII Era...

3. And we're not just tilting at windmills here
Grayson is getting support from DFA, PPPC and DUers to combat the massive RW campaign against him. And the race has tightened, with polls showing him within a few points of beating his opponent. This race certainly is NOT a write-off for the party.

Amen, brother--yes, we can! We can do it!

5. Something is going on with the Repugs here in Florida
I've gotten four calls from Republican themed PACs in the last two days - one from Karl Rove. They MUST be desperate if they are blind calling lifetime Democratic voters who are on record as having volunteered for Democratic candidates in the recent past.

6. And Rove's org just got a $7M contribution...
...to carry out its campaign against our candidates. Can't remember the source, but it was posted here.

They're stepping it up, so we have to step it up, too. It may seem over the top to suggest that any single election is critical to the future of our country, but in this one it seems the reality isn't far from the hype.

Best of luck to you in Florida. Here in CA, we're fighting for Brown and Boxer. But, at the same time, I'm contributing to Grayson and making calls for him. Grijalva in AZ, too. As well as others...

This is the first election in which I'm going beyond my district and my state candidates to support those who won't be representing me as a constituent.

This time, the battle really is larger.

:hi:

9. Thanks, Will
Whenever I hear of those guys I think of that slimeball, Corsi (and my revulsion may explain why I couldn't recall the funding source).
