I just saw Obama's motorcade
I live near the airport and when my daughter and I were driving back from the mall we noticed a lot of cop cars parked on the medians of the freeway. I remembered that Obama was coming to town today for a campaign rally. When we got close to my neighborhood, we stopped and waited with a group of about 30 people for Airforce One to land and the motorcade to drive by. It was an unexpected treat on a Saturday afternoon!

2. I never saw that around here when Stupid was coming to town in 2004
and I certainly didn't see any sign of it when Darth came to campaign. Those events were always low key corporate shakedowns and rarely announced to the public until they were over. They sneaked in and tried to sneak back out.

4. When Bush use to come to Kansas City we would usually hear bout it the day before but the day of
it seemed like all the highways were closed everywhere near where they would be. Geez, this is Kansas City where there is no traffic ever, yet any time Bush came to town it seeme dlike they would shut down all the roads. It was crazy.

16. Minneapolis
He did a campaign rally today for state Dems. I couldn't help but notice there was an ambulance and an armored car as part of the motorcade. The ambulance I get, but what is the armored car for -- machine guns for the secret service or the "football"?

It was very cool and quite a thrill. Our little group was the first to greet him in the city.

17. I know. There was such excitement when Obama came to Ottawa last year.
I bumped into a friend in the mall at the time and he said he was getting ready to throw himself in front of Obama to protect him if need be. LOL!

Edited on Sun Oct-24-10 02:11 AM by cilla4progress
at the Univ. Wash. campus in Seattle! And tonight, we had our neighbor over for dinner who ran into him in downtown Seattle, coming out of the doughnut shop! He bounded over to a nearby clutch of locals where she was waiting for a glimpse! She ended up about 3 ft. from him, but couldn't get her hand out to him in time for a shake. Exciting times --- I know how you feel! Oddly, I feel like I know him almost personally now! :)
