Since when is 8 points behind a "dead heat"?
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 01:44 AM by Control-Z
Carly Fiorina thinks it is. Just heard it on NBC channel 4 News. Fiorina said she would much rather be where she is than where Boxer is right now, because she is a newcomer, the race is a tie, Boxer's a three term incumbent and the momentum is ALL ON THEIR SIDE!! She went on to say they were in a dead heat. (I'm not sure why I'm finding this so funny.)

I guess I thought with all that money she'd at least be good with numbers.

Brown takes commanding lead over Whitman in latest Los Angeles Times/USC poll

http://www.mercurynews.com/elections/ci_16425118

In the clearest sign yet that California voters are poised to swim against the GOP's rising national tide, a poll released Sunday shows Democrat Jerry Brown with a commanding lead against Republican Meg Whitman in the governor's race as Democratic U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer holds on to a comfortable lead over GOP challenger Carly Fiorina.

With the election just eight days away, Brown led the former eBay chief executive 52 percent to 39 percent among 922 likely voters surveyed by the Los Angeles Times and the University of Southern California. And Boxer's 50 percent to 42 percent lead was statistically unchanged from September's 51 percent to 43 percent advantage.

Edit to add: I am so happy to see Brown kicking butt too.

1. Anyone who can spin like that does not deserve to be elected!
They need to be straight with the facts!

Good grief.

2. When the Republican is behind...
If the rolls were reversed, you can bet that Whitman and Fiorino would both be described as "heading toward potentially landslide victories."

:eyes:

I feel pretty confidant about Jerry Brown, but I'd still like to see Barbara Boxer's numbers widen a lot more.

6. Now you know why HP canned her
When "8 percent loss" equals "flat" as Carly appears to be saying, you KNOW you're gonna piss off the bunch of engineers that run that place.

7. At a 4 point margin of error
if you want to be technical... still, the probability that the MOE went against you on both counts is a lot to pin hopes on.

9. Boxer is ahead only 2.5% if you take other polls into account.

10. i don't know. paladino is saying the polls don't matter
and in the primary he was 2 points behind and he won that, so it's easy to extrapolate how the fact that he is anywhere from 14 to 20 points behind is no big deal. The thing is, I think had the republicans not nominated these whack jobs they would probably have trounced the dems. but candidates like fiorina and o'donnell and the other ones are hurting their chances.

12. 8 Points???
In a state like California, that's almost 1,000,000 votes...kinda a heavy lift to steal. I'm more concerned about the real cliffhanger out there. I suspect we'll see plenty of these races and a good share that will go to court. In the meantime, here's hoping Carly throws more of her ill-gotten booty into a losing cause. Spend Carly Spend!!!
