From The CNN Archives (2002) "Did Clarence Thomas Tell The Truth Under Oath?" - Answer "NO"
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 12:18 PM by kpete
It seems only reasonable, therefore, given Mrs. Thomas's implied accusation of perjury against Anita Hill, that the same question be asked of her husband. Did Clarence Thomas commit perjury to acquire his seat on the Court?

The question is hanging in the air, just waiting for a response, whether anyone "important" is asking it or not.

By the way, while researching a separate article, I came across this from David Brock, in an interview with CNN:

CARVILLE: Clarence Thomas, you wrote a book about Anita Hill. Did Clarence Thomas tell the truth under oath?

BROCK: No.
When I found out two years later that he had done many of the things that Anita alleged...

CARVILLE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) children. We have a man on the Supreme Court that lied under oath?

BROCK: That's right.

Brock is a former Movement Conservative activist himself, one who had a central role in both the Bill Clinton Troopergate story and the Anita Hill story. He's extremely well-positioned to know what he's talking about. There's more from David Brock here, just one place of many. And much more in Brock's 2002 book, Blinded by the Right, still a great read.

2. A few Republicons like Brock can acknowledge the truth, but...
...most Republicons cannot - they are wedded to the Big Lies they have told, not only about Clarence Thomas, but about WMD, about being 'conservative' about having 'values' -- they need to cling to their lies because they cannot handle the truth.

5. Success does not require a full impeachment....
Start the investigation...

Identify clearly and credibly where he lied under oath. Bring the testimony of all that can speak to this including the dems that agreed to 'hold back' other witnesses who would have corroborated Anita's info. Do it simpley and clearly, so ANYONE can see this doesn't require a full vote. (besides it will never get one)

Then it just doesn't matter if it goes any further...look at the big dog himself who actually wasn't fully impeached, but will have to carry the albotross around.....

That alone should reduce any remaining respect for Thomas, maybe to the point that he himself resigns for the betterment of that particulart branch of governement.
