We must admit it: the Democratic party is as self-serving as the Republican party.

Ostensibly, the democraticly controlled House of Representatives, with a simple majority rule system, could stop Bush's war machine. If Bush does not get a bill he can sign, no funds for the war. However, democratic house members are more concerned with being reelected in 2008, (read "supporting the troops"), than in ending the U.S.'s war of choice in Iraq, which would truly support the troops. Our only hope is that Republican congressional members have a similar concern in 2008.

...did before it. The war against Iraq is a criminal enterprise. Congress is participating by funding it. That's complicity in crimes against humanity, in our names.

We citizens are in a bad spot when we elect congress people to get us out of Iraq, and they refuse to do so because they are already concerned about the next election?

They have done NOTHING to bring out any of the corruption in this administration. They rubber stamp every thing that Bush wants. They have done nothing to try to help us little people. Yup, exactly the same. :sarcasm:

Because they aren't working on or doing what you want, they are just like repubs, that's the attitude that got Bush selected in the first place.

10. The Dems were elected to majority status last fall with one huge directive

And that was to stop the war by any means necessary. Sadly, they're not going to do that. Instead of defunding the war, holding those supplementals up in committee, they are going to continue funding this illegal, immoral war, all because the so called Dem leadership stated before they were even seated that defunding and impeachment were both off the table.

So thus, the Dems are also not going to pay attention to the will of the people. Remind you of somebody else? Oh, yeah, Republicans:eyes:

12. Agreed!

I'm not going to leave the DEM party, but it feels as though they are leaving me. Yea, I know some say why fight Shrub's time-line when we can't over ride a veto - but I'd far prefer the DEMS stand ground on the issue that brought them into power last year (and see what happens). I'm both baffled and really disappointed at their roll over mentality on Iraq.

11. Yes it is, but it's self-interests are generally better than the GOP's.

But the failure to do their utmost to stop the war in Iraq is undermining any remaining confidence in either party.
