"But we live now in hard times, not end times..."

Quote of the Day

"But we live now in hard times, not end times... The country's 24 hour politico pundit perpetual panic conflictinator did not cause our problems, but its existence makes solving them that much harder... If we amplify everything, we hear nothing... The press is our immune system; if it overreacts to everything, we actually get sicker and perhaps eczema."

-- Jon Stewart, host of the Daily Show, in his closing address at the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear," taking aim at the media.

1. Perhaps they are reacting with the correct intensity, but to the wrong things

2. I think you're right; without the media concentrating on issues
that matter, that's what we get. People are busy; I bet a lot of them get their only news from talking heads. It's be nice if they were given honest, up-to-date news with no spin or b.s. And the really sad thing is, most people don't even know how manipulative the talking heads are/can be.

3. Numerous good quotes from the Stewart speech. My favorite...
...had to do with "there's always on jerk who cuts in, and he's scorned, but we don't make him a (news) analyst."

Or perhaps, "we work together every damned day"

4. I liked that first quote, too. I wondered who Stewart had in mind, but
there's so many!

5. I thought that analogy
was for ABC and Breitbart because JS is also on top of the latest M$Greedia BS.

7.  That was a great quote
I loved everything the rally except the comparisons with left and right.
