that the wannabe speaker of the house would campaign for a man who likes to dress up as a nazi says all there is to say about the state of america.

John Boehner To Campaign With Rich Iott, Candidate Who Dressed As SS Officer

WASHINGTON -- House Minority Leader John Boehner will campaign this weekend with Rich Iott, the Ohio Republican congressional candidate who found himself embroiled in controversy several weeks ago when photos surfaced of him dressed in a Nazi SS uniform.

The Iott campaign confirmed to the Huffington Post that the two will appear together at the Lucas County Republican Party headquarters. It is, if nothing else, a risky stop for Boehner to make just days before the election.

Iott's chances at winning the seat were seemingly downgraded after photos of him dressed in Nazi garb surfaced. But Boehner's visit suggests that Republicans feel the seat is within their grasp. Iott claimed that he was merely partaking in a historical reenactment and not out of latent sympathies for the Third Reich. Still, his candidacy became somewhat symbolic for the extremities of the GOP.

Boehner, through it all, stood by his fellow Ohioan. The House Minority Leader didn't seek a return of the campaign funds he had sent to Iott. The campaign swing on Saturday is, however, a step towards an even fuller embrace of Iott's candidacy. A spokesman for Boehner did not immediately return a request for comment, but the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee did.

1. Boner Craves Power
He can smell the money...measuring the drapes. The lobbyists are already lining up outside his door to buy votes and write legislation. This dude is certain he's gonna be Speaker. He's shown over and over he cares little what other think, he's on a big money ego trip.

While the GOTB are ready to do the happy dance on Tuesday, they better be prepared to deliver, not obstruct...lead, not campaign. They can't do it. Democrats may not be popular but the rushpublican brand isn't any better. Boner will become the face of a dysfunctional government...and a smug one at that. His arrogance will be his downfall...and it may bappen sooner rather than later as there are those inside his caucus who may want a new leader should they retake the House. Stay tuned...

5. Local right wingers are gloating....

They are extremely confident not only of a wide landslide today, but of eliminating the liberal politicians in America by 2012 once and for all. It's amazing, I only hope the democratic party learns from their mistake of ignoring their base. The democrats have the power, they just need to grow spines and use it. If the right wingers shut down government they win, they will always win because they have such powerful outlets for their messages. Elected Democrats on the other hand sit back and do nothing, they spend all their time trying to compromise, while the right takes over. Much like losing a game of reversi when the playing board keeps getting smaller with less chances of gaining more control, the democrats keep losing more and more and rather than taking chances they try to play it safe and keep losing ground. If Obama loses in 2012, it will be his own fault, just as it is the democrats own fault they are going down today. They all had their chance to stand up and lead but they chose to play the compromise game instead. Every oine admits that if the base shows up the democrats will do well, but the base is too frustrated, they expected the democrats to stand up and fight when all they did was try to appease the GOP.

2. It didn't look like there were many people at the rally.
I thought Boehner gave a speech he might have used in high school for class president, or some such. He didn't put much into it...short and not so sweet.

I didn't see a scan of the audience, but he wasn't looking too deeply into the area around the stage. Most appeared to be old and white.
