Make Glenn Beck cry! Send Grayson back to Congress (and send some $$ too, if you can!)

Dear Brook,

Truth is stranger than fiction. And it’s more and more difficult for Glenn Beck to discern a difference between the two.

I told you on Friday that Glenn Beck said this on his show:

“It’s OK if the Republicans lose every seat in the Senate and the House except for one. As long as that one is Alan Grayson losing.”

Please contribute now to our “Glenn Beck, Mind Your Own Business” Fund.

What I didn’t mention is this bizarre exchange on the same show between Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin, who was Beck’s guest that day:

Sarah Palin: “What is the attraction voters to Alan Grayson. . . . hat is the attraction there?”

Glenn Beck: “I think it’s his hotness. . . . It’s all physical. Come on Sarah, you know if Todd wasn’t around, you’d be, like, ‘Yum, yum. Give me some.”

Let’s show Glenn Beck that every time he opens his mouth, that’s another $20, or $40, or $50 for whomever he attacks. (NOTE: a few months ago I took to exercising my "right to Act Blue" for Grayson everytime some wingnut at work gave me heebies...it got expensive...but, oh so worth it! way cheaper than therapy -- brook)

I’ll admit that I sometimes find a guilty pleasure in watching Glenn Beck’s Howard Beale-like televised nightly nervous breakdown. But this exchange between Beck and Palin left me speechless. And I’m not exactly known for my speechlessness.

Blogger Digby, though, was not speechless. She posted a comment called “Alan Grayson Makes Beck Tingly”, and she made this point:

“Putting aside the imagery (however disturbing), it's worth taking a moment to note just how consumed Republicans are with getting Grayson out of Congress. . . . t's his style as a legislator -- cheered by progressives for its unapologetic self-assuredness -- that gets the Republican blood boiling. . . . hey are all desperate to see Grayson lose. But I wouldn't count on it. He's very, very smart. (And yeah, that's hot.)”

As Digby suggested, “f you're inclined to put some money toward continued Grayson hotness in the House, you can do so here.”

Truth,

Alan Grayson

P.S. That M&M box from Air Force One, with the President’s signature, went to our 100,000th online contributor, Anthony Ehrlich of Barberville, Florida. Anthony says that he will save the M&Ms, not eat them.

2. interesting: Fox News Analyst Calls Grayson Race a "Toss-Up"
http://www.graysonforcongress.com/newsitem.asp?NewsId=128

Today (Oct 27), the Congressional correspondent for Fox News labeled Congressman Alan Grayson's re-election race a "toss-up."

In an article called "The Wave," Fox News reporter Chad Pergram reviewed races where Democrat candidates have worked hard for a long time to survive what Pergram claims is a wave of Republican victories. Pergram said that there are "races where Democrats are optimistic that junior lawmakers can serve as a bulwark against the Republican sea." After discussing the well-prepared reelection campaigns of Reps. Mark Critz (D-PA), John Adler (D-NJ), Gerry Connolly (D-VA) and Michael McMahon (D-NY), Pergram goes on to say this about the Grayson campaign:
"Another good example is freshman Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL). In 2008, Grayson seized another seat that had long been GOP turf when he edged out former-Rep. Ric Keller (R-FL). No fool he, Grayson amassed a substantial war chest in an effort to ward off any serious Republican contender. As of October 13, Grayson had raised more than $4.8 million and had $814,000 on hand. His opponent, Republican nominee Daniel Webster only cobbled together $1.2 million and had less than half the cash reserves as Grayson.

"Still, the race is a tossup. And if Grayson ekes out another win, it shows you just how expensive the Democratic floodwall was to keep that particular seat."

"If Fox News is calling this race a toss-up, we must be winning by at least 23 points," joked Sam Drzymala, Grayson campaign spokesman. "This shows how important it is for every one of our supporters to get out and vote."

3. Hmm. Agreed -- if Fox says it's close, perhaps Grayson's doing better than we'd heard.
