Most Ironic Headline of the Year? "Neighborly dispute ends in gunfire"
Neighborly dispute ends in gunfire

Sheriff deputies were called to Woodland Ridge Road shortly before 10:00 Saturday morning.

Mitchell Campbell, age 35, told police his neighbor, 54-year-old Louis Serviss, came to his garage, pointed a gun at him, and threatened to kill him.

Campbell told authorities he shot Serviss before he could shoot him.

Sheriff Ronnie Hitchcock says the two men have been in an ongoing dispute, and no charges have been filed.

I left a comment, but it is awaiting approval from a moderator:

"This should win an award for the Most Ironic Headline of the Year. "Neighborly dispute ends in gunfire"

A "neighborly dispute" doesn't end in gunfire, a "neighborly dispute" is more like 'Hey Bob, your dog keeps crapping on my lawn!' <> 'Well hell Tom, the rain will wash it away, it's only dog poop dude!' <> 'Well Bob, my kids like to play in the yard and roll around in the grass, so please try to keep Barney from crapping on my lawn' <> 'Well ok Tom, I'll see what I can do, dude, sorry man' <>

See? NO gunfire! A "neighborly" dispute. There is nothing neighborly about 'I'm gonna kill you, Bob!' <> 'Oh yeah, Tom?!? <> BANG!! <> 'Damn Tom, you were too slow'

There's too much violence in this world. People need to mellow out and stop the hate. All these poor souls out there, so filled with hate that it's eating them up from the inside out. It's saddening what our world is devolving to."

1. Actually anything not acceptable is the same as anything else not acceptable.
The world being reported as getting worse or a threat like that is often used to try to get someone to back down from some position.

I hold to my positions because they have not been argued against, nor shown to be wrong. There is no way some concept of the world getting worse would change an argument not shown wrong.

My positions have not been disputed.

2. guy must be quick on the draw
Campbell must've practiced some quickdraw shooting in order to have shot Serviss who already was pointing a gun at him.

4. I was thinking the same thing..
.. and wondering why Campbell was already armed, too. I don't normally carry a gun in my garage or out building.

7. And yet we're told that Cain slew Abel
Not very neighborly, not to mention brotherly.

After posting here about losing my younger brother--and receiving an overwhelming response from my fellow DUers--I couldn't help telling my other brother that if I ever want to be at the top of the Greatest page again, all I have to do is do him in and post about my loss here. :)

So, if you really hate fratricide, you might give some consideration to recc'ing all of my posts. Just so Iwon't be tempted...
