One thing is certain.........
....everything changes! Tomorrow, we may be disappointed in the outcome of the elections, maybe not. But, things are not going to be the same. If you are old enough to have weathered the elections of the last twenty years, you know what I mean. I have seen this place ecstatic (Obama) and shocked (2000). I can guarantee we will see both of these emotions again, and again, and again. Nothing lasts forever.

People vote how they feel at the time. I doubt many give it as much thought as we on DU seem to. If they have voted republican all their life, I see nothing to change their minds this time around. If they have voted dem all their life, same answer, with the exception that some might see their personal struggles tied to this administration just because it happened on Obama's watch. What happened on Obama's watch to make it so bad? HCR? Financial reform? Tax cuts? Hmm, those all seem to be good things, so why would anyone blame Obama or the dems for the misery of the last two years? Because they are in power, at the moment.

Personally, I cannot understand why we get any tax cuts at all. Our nation is in debt up to it's ass. The raising or lowering of taxes should be based on how much we owe, not who is in power and what they want to do to remain popular. That is insane. Truth be known, we should all be paying an additional 10-15% more in taxes to get our debts down so our kids aren't burdened with paying it, but for some reason, we don't seem to care that we are passing down debt. It has almost become a preference with the republicans, and dems aren't far behind.

Tomorrow will be different......I'm not sure if it will be a good difference or not, but things will change. They always do, they always will. Two yrs ago, we voted for change we could believe in. Did we get it? When you compare it to what we had, leadership-wise....hell yeah! Economically, we haven't seen much change, but there's only so much a president can do, and much less with a "just say no congress".

At some point, someone is going to have to address our debt problem. Neither party is going to fix it by taxing us the appropriate amount to pay it off. That is the one thing I see never changing. It will have to be paid off through prosperity in the U.S., but those days seem long-lost, too. Sigh.

We need change....something new, not the same old same old. Not the same old democratic bullshit, not the same old republican bullshit. We need people who can stand up to the process and declare it broken.

Aint gonna happen as long as corporations are allowed to buy elections. That has got to be the first change!
