Time to 'get over it' and use the healthcare law, says Dr. Oz
I thought this was good news. Sounds like it will air after the election though.

Time to 'get over it' and use the healthcare law, says Dr. Oz

A new ad campaign, to air after the polls close, stars the TV celebrity, urging Californians to get all they can out of the Obama legislation

Reporting from Washington — After an election season saturated with ads attacking the healthcare law President Obama signed in March, the nonpartisan California Endowment, a leading advocate of the new law, is planning an answer Tuesday night.

As soon as the polls close, the foundation will air a new ad on television stations around California featuring doctor and TV celebrity Mehmet Oz (host of "The Dr. Oz Show") urging Californians to help make the law work.

"The party's over," Oz says as the commercial begins. "Whether your side won or lost, the yelling season is through. It's time to get over it and get on with it."

"The new healthcare law has so much in it that could help Californians get better and more affordable healthcare, but it's up to the people of this state -- and its elected leaders -- to make sure that you get all that you can out of the new law."

"Whether your side won or lost, the yelling season is through. It's time to get over it and get on with it."

4. I really despise the term "get over it"..
I remember that being a favorite of the right wing after Bush v. Gore..

8. I'm not going to let their ridiculousness interfere with me...
It's a new promise to myself. They've ruined a lot for me and I'm over letting them do that.

9. "Get over it" is a term beloved by bullies and those who enable bullies..
I heard versions of "get over it" all through grammar and high school, hearing it again after Bush v Gore was salt in some old and deep wounds.

2. Whoa, wait...Dr. Oz?
Someone here on DU last week said he was a prominent, partisan Republican. How could this be possible?

3. I'd love to use it, but unfortunately I can't afford the pre-existing condition pool.
(Pssst . . . don't get too sick if you're sick because you still need to cough up big bucks for any coverage at all and you can't afford to lose any income.)

5. I love Dr. Oz, but I'm not sure the PSA will have the desired effect
Those who could afford to take advantage of the new legislation are doing so.

Those who can't are going without.

It will become rapidly apparent that those who can't will far outstrip those who can, and the resulting problems will be legion.

IMHO, YMMV.

6. That's it, roll over and pee on yourselves while Big Insurance smacks you with a rolled-up newspaper
Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 12:47 PM by derby378
After all, the rolled-up newspaper has so much in it to help out Californians as long as they consent to being smacked by it.

7. What are we supposed to get over?
Being herded into the corporate veal pens?

Being denied single-payer?

Giveaways to lobbyists?

How nice of him to unilaterally close the debate for all time and tell us to eat our crap sandwich with a smile.
