Jon Stewart, good points, but
I sadly think this is the point where he can wind up jumping the shark. I will explain why.

Now, one thing I think he is sincere about is the fact that modern news has become a joke, and that there is something to be mourned.

I remember watching him confront Jim Cramer, and him exclaiming, with sincere frustration, that he "is supposed to be the one doing fart jokes, but people take YOU seriously, and trust you." I still say that, in clips such as the one mentioned below, he did more to actually INFORM people on Wall Street's house of cards than any other reporter did:

Sorry, but the quote where he says "they burnt the F(expletive) house down, and walked away rich, is as honest, and as true, as anything Rachel and Keith say.

So, why am I mad at Stewart, joining the chorus of people that I normally argue with?

It is simple. Jon, you were one of the few people that was honest about why the democrats were getting their ass kicked, because we kept playing too nice. We were the ones bringing knives to gunfights, and you so rightly chided Obama about doing that. However, know you go ahead, ad say that we have been too nasty, too rude? Stewart, you have had these scumbags on your show, you have had to deal with them at their most polite, when they were still sleazy, and barely hid their contempt for you. In all fairness, even taking into account that yes, Ed and Keith can be long winded at times, how DARE you see we have a problem being rude? The whole reason we are about to take it in the rear tomorrow is because we were way too polite to people that had no interest in being polite!

Sorry, but if anything, we need to encourage people with sharper tongues, the Michael Moores, the Joe Beagants, the Jim Hightowers, to keep hammering away. Sorry to say, you just played the stereotypical New York clueless liberal, and they will use your very refusal to call them out as a sign of weakness. You have taken yourself way too seriously Jon, and if you do not watch out, you will jump the shark and lose credibility.

1. Let me be the first to agree with you.
Yes, Jon, it would be really nice to restore civility to our political discourse but it gets us no where when we are dealing with the likes of Palin, Rove, etc. Our President has tried that for 2 years to no avail and probably contributed to this blood bath we Dems are probably going to experience tomorrow. I wish with all of my heart it didn't have to be this way but it is what it is.
