It would have been nice to have voted FOR a candidate rather than AGAINST a candidate. Even Bill Clinton joked that he couldn't understand why the Tea Party didn't endorse Joe Manchin (D). (sigh) Held my nose voting the straight Dem ticket this year.

3. I'm sorry (not) if this thread offended you
But I'm sure there are at least some other folks here who will understand where I'm coming from, especially those opposed to mountaintop removal mining. Perhaps I was mistaken that this was a discussion forum and I should have first asked for your list of approved topics.

5. Consider yourself admonished

by the "Do it my way" brigade. In the future please PM the people who may have an objection to your post, I assume you know who they are right, and obtain a "pre-approval to post" response. After obtaining that please PM a senior moderator or higher to obtain a final "go to post" response" you may then post unless you would like to add a poll in which case you must do it again with separate PM's for each poll response. All appeals must go directly to an administrator.

I never could understand why some people feel the need to do that. Perhaps there is some underlying Authority issue?

I've had to vote for the lesser of two evils many times and I do it by keeping my eye on the global outcome rather than the local one.

9. Many of us started our own threads.
I don't see the problem.

We can be honest when those we have voted for (notice the OP said he/she voted for the Dem) are less than we hope for them to be.

4. And the funny thing about it
Even though you cast your ballot while holding your nose, your vote counts exactly the same as some nitwit pumping his fist and voting for Raese, a point which has seemed lost on our popular media commentators over the last several months.

17. I thought enthusiastic votes counted double.
Maybe that's just Gallup.

7. All you have to do is stop being negative
If you're going to be negative, you will always have to vote "against" the Republicans.

You can only vote against the worst candidate. Or you can vote "for" the better candidate.

I'm really tired of hearing that one, I guess.

24. When even the RepubliCorp press here in WV admitted there was no difference...
You really ARE voting not FOR anyone, but AGAINST.

The platforms and positions of the candidates running for WV-1 were identical, right down to both Oliverio (D?) and McKinley (R) being anti-choice, anti-GLBT, pro-corporate welfare, pro-mountaintop removal, anti-Obama, etc... Oliverio was a Republican in a jackass suit, and i can't say i'm sorry he lost.

No vote that McKinley casts in Washington will be any different than the ones that Oliverio would cast if he was in that position.

There was no 'better' candidate choice here.

12. Yeah, my Democratic Governor is a good Republican too
So what. I had 15+ people to pick on my ballot and I'll be damned if I pick the one I liked least to whine about on a public forum on election day. I can't imagine doing something like this.

14. +1
I'm in Morgantown and I haven't voted yet (going to do it here in a little while--we're trying to find a ride) but I'm literally sick about having to vote for Manchin and Oliverio. I'm doing it, but I'm grieving over it.

And I am confident the Tea Party will encounter a setback in WV tonight.

15. Don't feel bad
A lot of us aren't thrilled with Joe's positions on mountaintop removal. But I still trust that he'll vote with his fellow Dems at least part of the time, unlike his out-of-state dwelling, lie-spewing opponent. Same with Rahall: I don't always approve of him, but he's a prince next to Spike Maynard.

And nothing says we can't hold their feet to the fire 24-7, once they're elected.

18. Raese is just about as close to a poster child for Tea Party America we could want..
An unrepentant, unreformed slug. I'd be happy to vote against somebody like that.

Well, I did get to vote against Eddie Bernice Johnson's opponent, the self-righteous Beckite Stephen Broden.

23. The poster boy will be going home to Florida tonight
I'm just discouraged that I had nothing but a slate of DINOs to vote for. The only thing I felt good about was voting for the local school levy. However, I will feel much better if a bunch of Tea Partiers go down in flames tonight.
