Just voted an hour ago in Michigan! Repub precinct, light turnout.
Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 02:15 PM by UrbScotty
I just voted in Kentwood! I was Voter #295 in Precinct 3 in Kentwood just after 2PM. There were five booths, only three of which were being used, so I had a choice of which booth to use. I was in and out of there in 5 minutes.

Among the others voting, one guy said he was unemployed (just like me). There was also a black man and a couple of women.

I figured there would be more votes cast by then. About 800 voted in the precinct in 2006. I voted around the same time in our primary in August, and it turns out slightly more than half the people who ended up voting that day voted after I did. So we could be looking at slightly lighter turnout, at least in my R-leaning precinct.

Mom and Grandma voted absentee a few weeks ago, and Dad will be voting in just a little while. My brother and his girlfriend are in Seattle, and they voted for Murray. I also advised them to vote against prop 1082 (insurance industry money grab).

I voted for integrity, honor, commitment, honesty, and courage. Yep, I voted straight Democratic!

In addition to all the usual races, there is a first-term Democratic county commissioner who got my vote. His opponent is the longtime county commissioner whom he beat two years ago. On the other hand, we have a very good chance at taking back a state Senate seat here in greater Grand Rapids - and Pat Miles (D) could very well score a pickup for us in the race for Congress in MI-03!

1. Go Virg! We gave him 4 votes here in our neck of the woods.
Question: Were you asked for ID? We were asked twice, but they were doing it for everyone in this right-wing paradise. I was voter #300, high for this area. I asked, and they said they'd been busy all day.

5. Stupid public
Believing those repuke attack ads.. Few states owe more to the Democratic party than Michigan. Obama overcame Repuke odds and saved all of GM's suppliers from going under by saving GM.. Michigan has problems now. Can you imagine what would have happened had GM gone under.

6. I voted this morning, Westside GR
Not sure how to judge turnout there since I've only voted here in the primary earlier this year. I was voter 108 at about 9:30 or so. There were only a few people there at the time, I had no wait. They seemed confident that it would pick up later in the day ("you came at the right time, young man!"). I hope it does, because this is a Democratic precinct and we need these votes for some awesome candidates, including Pat Miles! Looking forward to see how it goes, but not getting my hopes up too terribly high yet.

7. Really disappointed as I drove through Greensboro today
driving elderly people to the polls. Went to four different polling places, and drove past many others, and turnout appears light. Maybe it'll pick up after 5pm. One can only hope.
