We're about done here
So for the endless hours of shouting, prognosticating, predictions of unprecedented upheaval, and thoughts of basically the end of the political world as we know it, it looks like we will end up just about where mid-term elections end up. The party in power suffers deep but not fatal losses, the other party claims victory and a new world order, a lot of blabbing goes on and then, in a few days, business continues as usual.

It will be interesting to see how the new power structure sorts out. How will Obama play it? Will the Democratic Senate have the guts to change the rules(doubtful)? Will the House do anything productive or will the nuts gain control and try and impeach Obama.

Too bad about losing the House though. The Democratic House passed a lot of good legislation but the useless Senate did what the Senate is best at: not much.

The games will continue folks. Not much will change and the 2012 race will start in a couple of days.

4. what day does the impeachment start?
That's what is different, and so regrettable.

Did you live through the Clinton Lewinsky years? If so, you'll know just how f8cked up the next two years will be.

12. All in all...a pretty normal outcome
Maybe not the one we would like in our "if the world was smarter" fantasies but pretty typical. The MSM made this out to be the election of our lifetimes. But it is typical. Sure there are some individual races that will be interesting to see how they turn, probably some for us and some for them, but the balance of power seems pretty well defined.

It just seems kind of funny to me that after a billion or two dollars the results are about what would have been expected back when a couple of million might have been spent.

Crazy stuff...

10. 2012 started the day a democratic black man was elected
Unfortunately the default political position in the US was set to R, a long time ago, and whenever dems do get elected, they are forced/coerced/bullied into being "moderate" so as to not upset the republicans. They are always seen as temporary place-holders until the rightful owners get those offices back.

The media has NEVER been truthful or equitable when covering politics, and we all know how corporatist they are, so don't expect it to change.

I'm done funding wars against 3rd world countries and wars against the poor. Try and fuck over my cancer-ridden dying mom, and I'll be on your fucking doorstep. Showing you about as much mercy as you've shown my mom. I have hope for the future, though. I'm done, too. Time for our kids to take over. There's a reason I detest my generation (and I'm excluding all those who were a part of the counterculture of the '60's). Most people born after the Great Depression and before Generation Y aren't really worth two shits.

15. You said it
It distresses me to no end that so many in my age group (I am 55) and younger are so anti-progress. True conservatism does not bother me but the anti-science, anti-gay, anti-healthinsurance reform, anti-common sense, pro-corporatist, etc. citizens are rarely my elders (except for the new teabaggers who feel so entitled to the govt insurance that they are against HCR.
