State questions on the ballot say a lot about the state
So, of course, the OK state ballot included question #755 which affects state courts and specifies (I am quoting verbatim from the context of the state ballot):

"It forbids courts from considering or using Sharia Law...Sharia Law is Islamic Law. It is based on two principal sources, the Koran and the teaching of Mohammed."

I shit you not DU. I laughed out loud at the polling place!

1. Most of the state questions were right wing bullshit
meant to stir up the base.

Photo ID - Passed
English as the official language - Passed
No Sharia Law - Passed

I am embarrassed by the state I love every election.

2. I'm in Oklahoma too. I didn't laugh.
Because number 1, it's just a symptom of the anti-Muslim sentiment being spread by conservatives. And number 2, I still voted for it (banning the use of Sharia Law) for the same reasons I would vote against any religion being used in courts as it's unconstitutional. It still gave a "win" though to the conservatives in the long run.

3. Nothing that out there here in Maine. Just a question for or against a casino, a
couple of bond questions about dentists and land conservation.
