Rachel Maddow Rips Eyan Bayh Over Dan Coats Indiana Win
Source: Huffington Post

"It's important also to know what just happened in Indiana," Maddow said. "Republicans had their first pickup in Indiana. Evan Bayh, probably the only Democrat who could've held that Senate seat right now. Evan Bayh knew that, resigned anyway, decided not to run again, held on to all his campaign money, and did not give any of that campaign money to any other Democrats in order for them to try and win their seats. And he is now essentially trying to reinvent himself as a pundit who talks smack about Democrats and how badly they are doing as a party and how that's seen in the seats that they lose--one of which he gave away. So the Democrats are going to miss Evan Bayh's Senate seat in Indiana--I cannot believe they are going to miss Evan Bayh."

4. We've got a lot of DINOs. Sen. Ben Nelson, Sen. Mary Landrieu,
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Sen. Blanche Lincoln and a few others whose names I can't think of right now.

Unfortunately, Sen. Lincoln is the only one of these DINOs up for re-election this year.

3. my kids and I were just talking about that
People didn't make donations to "Evan Bayh, most excellent and deserving private citizen" but to "Evan Bayh, Senator from Indiana." How on earth can he keep that money, either morally or legally?

17. If he becomes a Fox News Democrat...
he can sit between Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen. Hannity always liked having Bayh as a guest.

14. you mean you can hear the validity of her statement despite your hate--she must have a pretty
powerful voice to penetrate all of that in order for validity to seep through.

I know...it must be killing you on the inside.

11. Rachel and many others are missing what Bayh's motives are
I have known the Bayh family for years and the plain fact of the matter is that Evan will run for Governor of Indiana again and then take another shot at getting the Dem nomination for Prez. Bayh believes that he can run from the right and win in a few years.

To understand Evan Bayh is to understand that the ONLY thing he has ever wanted is to be President. There is not a single thing that he would not give up to get the brass ring. He kept that money for his future run for Governor of Indiana.

12. Sounds like a good chess move
Being a moderate, I like his plan. Evidently the Democrats need to consider economic growth and reducing government spending. But I would start by pulling our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

20. Joe Lieberman isn't a Democrat
Joe Lieberman's main constituency is special interest groups. His focus after the last election was to make sure we stayed in the neocon-set foreign policy track - meaning we were supposed to fight on in Iraq, Afghanistan, and invade Iran. That's what Joe's about.

18. Rachel Maddow is lying about Evan Bayh
"It's important also to know what just happened in Indiana," Maddow said. "Republicans had their first pickup in Indiana. Evan Bayh, probably the only Democrat who could've held that Senate seat right now. Evan Bayh knew that, resigned anyway, decided not to run again,

Senator Bayh did not resign. He is completing his term as Senator.

Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 09:12 AM by cascadiance
And the damn bastard waited until the absolute last minute to announce that he was doing so so that instead of having Indiana Democrats select a successor in a primary, to allow the DLC leadership to appoint the candidate who of course proceeded to lose (seemingly as PLANNED by this bum and his DLC buddies!)
