6. Generally agree, but why do you include New York?
The Republicans had a primary in which a Tea Party type beat the party establishment's candidate, a standard-issue Wall Street corporate drone, but that was their primary for Governor. I don't think Palin was at all a factor in their selection of their Senate candidates. Schumer and Gillibrand were both going to cruise to easy wins (margins of 20 or 30 points) regardless of their opponents, unless the Republicans could entice one of their big guns (Giuliani or Pataki) to make the race. Either of them could have made it closer but the Dems would still have been favored. In any event, Palin had nothing to do with pushing them out; they just decided not to run.
