Was here all night for 2002.

And 2004.

And 2006.

And 2008.

And now 2010.

Bad night tonight. Could have been worse (think 2002 and 2004). But we will endure, survive, thrive, and prevail.

5. We've Had Worse Nights

My first visits here were around the 2002 election. Nothing was worse than the feeling following 2004. The thought of 4 more years of the boooosh criminal enterprise was majorly depressing...a funk that lasted for the rest of the year. It was justified, but it also ended up as a source of energy in working to defeat the GOTB in '06 and '08. That morning in '04 not only did the Democrats lose seats, it was on the verge of the political abyss...near filibuster proof rushpublican majorities were in sight. There's no such dire situation now...and no week long funk. Tomorrow the work begins again...there's still plenty of good to work with and more that can be added.

11. 2004 was the worst.

Because we had no warning. It was a gut-punch.

And I worked at a weekly-newspaper job then, and Tuesdays were our big layout night, and when we walked out and went to the nearest 4-AM-license bar, that was just when the Ohio tide was turning. The bartender was in tears and kept pouring free "rage shots" all night.

I still don't really remember Kerry's concession speech the next day at noon all that well, because I had to keep running to the can.

(I don't blame Kerry for that. Never have. Never will. I blame Bush, Blackwell in Ohio, and all the ignorant numbnuts who made it close enough to steal in the first place.)

7. I don't think it is that bad.

The teabaggers are saying already that they plan to hold the republicans accountable. There may be so much infighting in that party that they can do nothing, agree on nothing. It will be fun to watch.

We will have to be the ones who report it, because the media will not.

This was no bloodbath. We kept the Senate. And we have lived through worse. I am older than some of the people here. I have lived through a Presidential assassination, cities on fire and Nixon.

Things will change again in two years. My candidate for the House lost. He wants us to save our huge sign. He will start gearing up again in six months so that he can run again in two years.

12. I live in Illinois, in a red county, and that is bad enough.

I am not thrilled that our Senate seat appears to be going to a republican, and our governorship as well.

Illinois politics is always interesting. Now we have Rod selling pistachio nuts.

open up and strictly audit ALL the books, onshore and offshore and 'special vehicle', of the crony financiers and their enablers, including the Federal Reserve / Treasury (corrupt) system itself and White House ' economic advisers'.

Revisit and re-analyse what it means to 'incorporate', to be a corporation, in terms of jobs, a meaningful 'stake' in society for ordinary working folk, honest media and fair elections in the USA today.

Oh, and if possible, do mention the wars.
