Rand Paul already talking about balancing the budget...
I heard Tom Hartman talking about this yesterday. Now that they have the House they are extra worried about balancing the budget. I think we should definitely balance the budget: BALANCE IT ON REPUBLICAN DISTRICT EARMARKS! Would that work? Are democrats willing to take a stand?!

2. Maybe he can put AquaBuddha on one side of the scale and graywarrior's duck on the other side.
A few bong hits, half a case of cheap piss-water beer, and a hit of acid and he might just BELIEVE the budget balanced itself.

8. Cut/close the 700+ US military sites in all the other countries. Bring home
all the troops and their families. Spread the troops and families amongst the bases in the US that have been downsized.

This influx of troops/families will have a positive impact on the local economies. As the economies improve, so will the job opportunites. Gradually reduce the total military population via reduced recruitment and normal attrition as enlistments expire.

All that stuff at the closed bases worldwide - if it is not economically sound to ship it home, sell it to the locals.

Think of the lease money the US will no longer have to pay for all those military sites. Think of the local civilians at those sites whose salaries the tax payers here will no longer be responsible for.

Stop being policemen to the world. Let the Department *of* Defense become the Department *for* Defense.

6. Rand Paul

If he sticks with his libertarian views, there are some aspects with which many of us can agree.

Specifically, he -- like his father -- is in favor of cutting defense spending (very unpopular with teabaggers) and closing some military bases.

If he sticks with that as a means to cut the budget, that will be a positive thing.

We'll see how true he is to his principles.

:)

9. That's what I think....
Ten Percentage across the board in the military and hoing back to 2008 levels wouldn't be all that bad.

IF WE DIDN"T HAVE MASSIVE UNEMPLOYMENT!!!!

11. if anything his little stint as senator will be nothing less than amusing.
It will be fun to watch as reality invades his half witted concept of libertarianism.
