Prop 19: Using Science to Defeat Science
Just a short observation that I felt was interesting... the opponents of Prop 19 (which more than likely included the alcohol industry and the private prison industry) did polling to figure out what would change people's minds about Prop 19. They discovered that people were concerned about people driving while smoking weed or smoking weed at work.

So they came out with commercials specifically targeting the fears the people they polled told them about. They used a scientific method to discover which lies they needed to tell in order to defeat the legalization of a substance that all the science shows needs to be legalized because the effect of doing so will be nothing but positive.

1. I never saw any commercials against, only for.
And I live in a red part of the state. There was also quite a whispering campaign (spurred on by Holder, the little wiener) going on that the feds would cut off California's funding (which is really funny because we actually contribute more to the feds than the feds contribute to us).

The "Yes on 19" campaign targeted ONLY young voters (against my strong advice) and, as I predicted, the youngins didn't turn out (no Obama/hero to vote for). The "Yes on 19" campaign actually took in quite a bit of money. I'm not sure where they spent it but every single person in charge of that campaign needs to be barred from ever being allowed near any campaign again. The same goes for the "No on H8" group.
