What disappoints me most about last night.
I knew the results weren't going to be pretty, but I truly believed that there were many in America who, like me and most of you, were committed to helping the country find its way forward, not trying to recreate the past. I thought there might be a burgeoning new "silent majority" of like-minded progressives who know that this takes much effort and time. These people were out there voting in 2008 - so where are they in 2010?

I'm afraid they don't exist. I live in one of the few true blue counties in Texas, and I even lost my Dem State Rep.

I knew it wasn't going to be pretty, but I'm disheartened that it was this ugly.

6. you really dont have an idea where all those 2008 voters went?
how can you not? Thats what I dont understand, people are suffering out here, every day and the administration did nothing, how can you not get that unless you are living comfortably with no real fear of where the next dollar is coming from.

geeze

10. I am making roughly half
of what I was making in 2008, and things are pretty tough. I don't think it is this administration's fault. But yes I agree with the "people are suffering" part and I also understand that many can be too stressed out to even have the time to stop and think about the why and how.

11. half is better than zero thats what I make!
look at the bright side the glass is still half full, nothing has really changed, the corporations and banks and insurance companies get what they want dem or GOP, we have a broken system and no party has either the gumption or incentive to change things.

Money always wins.

12. So why haven't you joined the ranks for Republicans?
If, as you say, the 2008 Dem voters decided to go Republican in 2010 because they are "unemployed, uninsured, homeless" (as you are, evidently, and have my sympathy), why did YOU decide to cast your lot with the Dems?

14. Sorry to hear that
I mean it. As to looking at the bright side, I do. I came very close to zero myself, the "half" job was a godsend, and on top of that I actually like what I am doing, so I am not complaining. It's just that it's not easy to make ends meet (and at times they do not meet at all).

5. I think something is wrong and smells when areas of blue loose by these
seemingly slim margins. Something is wrong.
