After last nights results does this now guarantee Democrats will have the Senate atleast til 2014? I dont believe there are many senate seats up for grabs in 2012, so it looks like Dems will have the senate until then for sure.

1. No, and more Democrats are at stake in 2012 than Republicans
The Senate Democrats who won in 2006 will be up for re-election in 2012.

The good news is Joe Lieberman will be up for re-election. We can pick up a seat in Connecticut.

3. Heh

"Strange" post, if you know what I mean. The Senate has basically the same number of seats in play every two years.

But although we'll soon be hearing the CW meme that Democrats have a "terrible map" for 2012 in the Senate, blah blah blah, in fact, very, very few of the incumbents running will actually be in danger, particularly in a presidential election year. And on the other side, we'll get rid of Lieberman, win back Ted Kennedy's seat in MA, and possibly benefit from near-certain teabagger challenges to Snowe in ME and Kyl in AZ. If turnout is high and candidate selection is good, Dems will actually be poised to add a seat or two.

4. And another thing
We have to hope for the good health and safety of all our Dem senators, because in some states, the governor gets to appoint a replacement, and there are more Republican governors now. :x(:
