Everyone needs to STOP the BS narrative that Obama hasn't accomplished anything.
Stop playing into this narrative. Stop the finger pointing about whether he's too progressive - or not progressive enough. That's just an argument to get us to tear ourselves apart as a party.

The Rude Pundit put it far better than I'm able to:

There will be time, there will time, yes, to sift through the wreckage of last night's Republican ass-kicking and look for pieces of wisdom. We know that they got here because they lied, as they always do, about what this president has accomplished, about how much he tried to work with the GOP, about how genuinely not-liberal Barack Obama is. We know that had the Citizens United decision not unleashed the floodgates of corporate cash, some of the losses might have been mitigated. We know that the shattered nature of contemporary media meant that many people got their news filtered through Rupert Murdoch's ass crack. But we also know that they made a decision: to win no matter what. If that meant giving up on things they supposedly believed (as John McCain did), so be it. If that meant putting up with the desires of a Tea Party composed of only Mad Hatters, so be it. If that meant breaking down the working of the federal government, so be it. Shit, making a bunch of poor suckers believe that tax breaks for the wealthy was good for everyone and that environmental and other regulation was bad was the easy part. The win was what mattered. It doesn't matter how much mud you're covered with as long as you put the ball in the end zone.

1. Obama did have some nice reforms: insurance, credit card, bankster reform.
Of course the real proof is how mad he made Fraud Street with these reforms.

2. The problem is that people are here for one of two reasons.
1. To figure out how to get what they want politically.
2. To try to scare the Democrats into doing more things for them by acting like they are displeased.

I'm in camp #1; the people in camp #2 have an interest in acting constantly dissatisfied.

This is why I want them to open a dedicated partisan forum here, so we don't interfere with each other and the #2s don't distract the #1s.

Also: We're #1.

4. He has accomplished things...just not the one thing the people wanted. Jobs.
He forgot the old adage...it's the economy stupid.

13. the few things he did for jobs was exactly what gave repugs the power they had
one of the reasons we dont have jobs is the repugs that were voted in.

so do tell, in all your wisdom, how that equates to obama, or a stupid people believing propaganda fox news.

20. People don't need fox propaganda to figure out the economy is bad.
Or are you saying we are being tricked into thinking things are bad?

14. False
Jobs, economic recovery and financial reforms were a top priority. When Obama took over we were on the brink of an economic meltdown of epic proportion. Our entire financial system - from the banking Juggarnauts like BofA, Wells Fargo and Citigroup - to scores of medium and small banks on the verge of collapse. Our entire auto industry and all of their suppliers about to go up in smoke.

By definition the recession ended the middle of last year and here we are two years into the Obama Presidency... debating the •pace• of the recovery. Which in itself truly amazing.

19. They spent 18 months on health care reform.
They could have spent that time putting together programs to aid small businesses and preserve jobs.

21. Misleading
During that 18 months they passed many, many peices of legislation that dealt with jobs creation and preservation for the near and long term. That HCR was a long battle doesn't mean other initiatives weren't also being spearheaded.

5. In my opinion...
If Obama would have bullied the pukes the loss would have been a lot worse. If he would have created more jobs the pukes would have said it wasn't enough. Truth is... the teabaggers hate the fact that our President is black and the rest are just republicans using the teabaggers for their personal gain.

15. Obama was stopped cold
The republicans just said NO and they stopped him.

Now, where is my job? The republicans promised me more work and less taxes.

Put up or shut up, Boehner.

16. Obama made a huge mistake...
He failed to realize that the American people wanted one thing more than jobs... They wanted accountability.

He could have bailed out Wall Street and not have suffered in the public eye if some CEO's actually went to jail for the fraud.
If CEO's pay was actually limited and if the TARP was used to not only to keep business going, but to put some serious 'strings attached' on the money so it benefited the taxpayer.

He could have investigated the past administration for many of its scandals.

He could have held GM responsible for its leadership failure and demanded that the bailout money to them had to go to transforming that particular company to Green Motors.

He could have held the mining industry responsible for the deaths in WV and cracked down on the abuses.

He let the oil drillers off the hook by lifting the moratorium without requiring them to demonstrate they can contain another spill/blowout.

I certainly would have liked to see some investigations and convictions for an illegal war.

17. i totally agree
i don't have time to read the whole post but imo he has accomplished a hell of a lot. i have been disappointed here and there but goodgawd look at what he's had to work with. he's been a damn good president so far.

ESPECIALLY compared to the alternative. yes we need to keep our elected officials' feet to the fire but supportively - this one is on our side. i really do believe that.
