Rand Paul: "There are no rich. There are no middle class. There are no poor"

Last night, Kentucky elected Rand Paul (R-KY), the son of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), to the U.S. Senate. Speaking to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Paul announced his intention to do anything it takes to shield the privileged rich and corporate America. Asked if he would end the $830 billion, unpaid-for Bush tax cuts to the rich and return tax rates for the wealthiest bracket to Clinton-era levels, Paul snapped and said such a move would cause a “second great depression” and declared that “anybody who proposes such a policy really is, I think, unfit to be making decisions.”

Paul then clarified his delusional worldview by telling Blitzer that “there are no rich” and “there are no poor.” In Paul’s mind, even taxing yachts would somehow punish the working poor in Kentucky. “We all either work for rich people or we sell stuff to rich people,” concluded Rand:

So I guess in Paul's mind, nobody works? Unemployment is 100% because rich people don't exist? The dumbfuckery is mind-numbing.

The first part co-opts a feeling of unity. We are all the same, to blunt any recognition of class and disproportion, but then the second part goes for the kill by suggesting we owe the rich our jobs and existence.

I disagree with him on about everything, but at least I see that he sticks behind what he believes in. Rand Paul sold out on nearly everything to get elected.

Look, I'm no Ron Paul supporter, and I hate it that you seem you seem to assume that I am. But I support honesty in politicians, and I will say Ron Paul is a honest man.

and tell me how it feels. I used to have a household income above $300K and went down to living on my bank account after divorce and quitting my sorry assed job. I spent almost a decade getting by on about $10K a year. I consider myself one of the lucky ones, I had savings because I had a good job and my ex did pretty well also. If I were just getting by for the last 30 years and didn't have the chance to save, I'd be living in a van down by the river.

There are no rich and no poor. Wow, good to know. Based on that silly thing called REALITY (with its well-known liberal bias), I was in danger of thinking otherwise.

He knows exactly what he's saying. There is no possible way anyone could be this stupid.

If he thinks he's going to be coddled by the media and his fellow Senators he's as crazy as he sounds.

Not one piece of anything including the appropriation bills will move in the senate. Will make the previous senate NOpublicans look like pikers.
