So obviously the majority of Americans are dumber
....than first imagined.

Remember the post 2004 election when the London papers, said something like, are 56 million Americans(or something like that) really that stupid?? It feels just like that!

We are the foreigners in our own country now. How is this possible???

I can't believe the Tea Partiers are taken so seriously!

OR,is it just blatant racism...that they would do ANYTHING to take out the Black Guy????!!!!

4. No, the majority of Americans are frightened and insecure not dumb.
A frightened and insecure electorate in economically bad times always acts this way. This is clear going back to 1938. During a recession, the people change he reins of power.

13. This same type of election swing has happened in similar circumstances.
It is a predictable part of human herd behavior. Most people are not informed. In a system where there is only (A) Democrats; and (B) Republicans, they will vote for the part not in power because they are uncomfortable and frightened. But the fear is not against some individual rapist or mugger. It is against huge forces in the economy that they do not understand. They just want the pain to stop so, they choose the other side.

Your comparison doesn't work, because this isn't and individual fear of another individual.

There are people who approach the fear and uncertainty differently. You and I have such a distaste for Republicans that we are not got to move reflexively in their direction. But the majority of voters are not that well informed. Independants without a strong atachment to a party move back and forth to stop the pain.

5. Is this a "get the poor excuses out" thread?
I'll go with "teabagging vote fraud racist health care against gays" for $500 Alex. It'll serve just as well as any other denialist excuse.

We lost because the Democratic Party didn't deliver what the people of this country want - full stop. I'll give you three guesses as to the best way to become winners again!

7. Fear is the most dangerous weapon of all
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 04:26 PM by Drale
George Lucas had it right when he wrote "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. Anyone who trys to use fear to get their was are by definition terrorist, and the democrats need to use that in the next election cycle.

8. Huge amounts of money spent by corporations get results.
And remember that 20% of Americans still think that Obama is a Muslim, what does that tell you?

10. We lost the "let's demonize liberals" war after the goppers " went to the mattresses" in 1964.
We didn't even know there was a war until it was too late. So, I say we start our own war against the corporatists. Maybe have some catchy phrases like "Conservatives, corporatists in sheeps' clothing", "Conservatives and their secret evildoer empire" or "Our family values never saw a bedroom we didn't want to spy on ". We need think tanks, magazines, and propagandists posing as pundits on the teevee. Well, that's how they did it. What do you think?

Now I know we have some of these things, but they need to be focused on particular audiences. Right now only the choir sees or can hear them. The brainwashed tune it out, or go around frothing at the mouth about liberal, leftist, nazi, commie, pinko fascists. How about a little edumacation for the clueless? :)
