Teacher gets to keep job after attempted poisoning of husband.
And recently one got fired for being gay?

WTF is wrong here? Oh, right. Georgia.

An elementary school teacher gets to keep her job after she was charged with attempting to poison her husband, Coweta County School officials said. Willis Road Elementary’s Rebecca Allwine’s legal troubles stemmed from a January argument with her husband, Coweta County deputies said. They said Allwine slipped a bottle full of Ambien into her husband's drink after the fight.

He survived, and she was charged with aggravated assault with intent to poison, deputies said.

In September, a grand jury indicted Allwine on a felony charge. Prosecutors dropped that felony after she pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors on Tuesday.

Parents and family members said they were upset that the county allowed her to remain in the classroom.

1. She must be a "good Christian woman".
After all, that forgives EVERYTHING in the Bible Belt, doesn't it?

6. But by definition, gay = "anti-christ"
By Bible-belters definitions, anyway.

5. She hasn't been convicted of a thing,
Would you think it fair if somebody, anybody lost their job before they were convicted?

9. But she has yet to be formally convicted.
Most major organizations won't do a thing about an employee's problems with the law unless there is an official conviction on the books. When that happens then we can get all outraged if they keep her in the classroom.

8. Far as I know, it isn't a crime being gay, either.
Of course, that's Georgia, so I may be wrong.

11. What was her actual plea?
Newspaper from September says the grand jury indicted her for aggravated assault and family violence battery. OP link indicates she pleaded to lesser charges

And actual circumstances, not fully reported, might matter a great deal here, Ambien/Zolpidem overdoses can potentially be fatal, but it is usually prescribed as a sleeping aid, and 10-20 the sleeping aid dose has been used experimentally for anticonvulsant or muscle-relaxant purposes, so the lethal/effective dose ratio must be rather high. Moreover, it seems usually to be prescribed in tablet form, so it's not clear exactly what her husband encountered: a drink full of tablets, perhaps?

I can't see how this helps anybody think clearly about winning the fight for gay rights

12. she probably wasn't trying to poison him
or kill him -

she was trying to get the @ss to fall asleep and leave her the f alone!

She wouldn't be the first - nor will she be the last - woman to spike their "loving husband's" drink with a sleep aid so the bastard will just go to sleep, stop drinking, stop yelling, stop pawing, stop being a complete and utter @ss!

13. At minimum, I'd guess the DA went for a serious charge in order
to encourage a lesser plea, then accepted the plea as being consistent with the facts -- and since she's not locked up, I'd further guess the facts didn't really support an attempted murder charge or something equally serious
