Hawai'i down to ONE repuke state Senator!!
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 06:34 PM by KamaAina
then again, there were only two last year. Boy, is it gonna be fun watching Sen. Slom try and cover every single committee! Sorry I won't be there -- unless Gov.-elect Abercrombie (D-Finally) hires me for something.

http://www.staradvertiser.com/elections/2010/election_day_stories/Only_one_Republican_may_be_left_in_state_Senate.html

Hawaii Republicans were poised last night to see a net gain of two seats in the state Legislature, picking up three seats in the House but losing one in the Senate....

If the results hold, the GOP would gain three House seats but still be outnumbered by Democrats, 42-9.
(looks like Marilyn Lee got over after all, so it's 43-8 -Ed.)

In the Senate, Republicans were trailing in the race for the seat held by retiring Sen. Fred Hemmings, leaving Sam Slom as the lone GOP senator. ( -ed.) Democrat Pohai Ryan led Republican Virginia Enos in early returns.

"Whatever we gotta do, we will do, and the Republican voice will be heard," he said.

Better buy a bullhorn, Sam...

8. Actually, 8
but 43-8 is rather good. At least that's enough for them to cover their committees!

7. Actually, back when they had three, they had a leadership fight!
Both Slom and Hemmings (now retired) wanted it. That left it up to Whalen from Big Island -- and no one could find him for two weeks!!!! (When they did, Hemmings, the very personification of the mean-spirited repuke, won.)

5. Congratulations. In MA, they also succeeded getting less state senators. 4 instead of 5 out of 40.

They doubled their state reps, but are still outnumbered 30 to 130.

But your guys are even more lonely.

How did he even get that close? What a frickin' babooze. :dunce:

So when do we find out who's on Neil's transition team? (I wasn't kidding. Remember, I do have fairly fresh high-level state contacts. And I've met him once or twice.)
